Hey heath, 1st, have great fun wherever you all DO go.
I hooked up with a couple of girls at the "Pincesser Park", which 5 years later are my closest boarding buddies. It IS a great 4* hotel in Arinsal, beutifull Lounge bar (big), complete and varied wellness centre, great staff and top food, for a price you can't go wrong with that one. I on the other hand was staying at the 2* hotel Arinsal a short distance from the slopes, lovely staff, again, Top food, many evenings with localish cuisine, comfy as you like, to die for sofas in a lounge with Roaring fire, cheep as chips and convienient. So there are two hotels at different ends of the spectrum. Arinsal is great for begginers (as well as other levels) with good schools and easy runs.....I,m envious. Haveing said all that, Being the worlds biggest critic, I didn't exspect much from the Holiday that we have just returned from in "Claviere, Italy"....WOW...was I suprised ?, Quickly to say, The Crystal club/hotel "Grande claviere", is a 3*,top notch, English run, Family specific (with HUGE creche'), great staff, superb food (and lots of it), warm rooms, fantastic Skiing area, EMPTY slopes, great lifts....what else....er...I think GOD lives there ....hour and half to Turin, easy in, easy out. UNBELIEVABLE Nuff said, God luck |

:roll:hey Kitkat,
Don't know if you have been boarding yet, but if not i can more than second jimbo's suggestion about puchasing a pair of impact shorts, THEY ARE A GODSEND, i swear by mine, the first time i boarded, literally the top half of my legs were a dark purple/black couloured bruise from the effect of going down on my Arse so much. Now I am more competant, although I still wear them (and padding for the knees).so...be safe, be comfortable and be like a michelin man. (You know what I'm talkin about don't you Tony H ? more your era eh ?) |

Guys, Girls and RossF, thanx one and all for all your suggestions,It turns out that my co-booker has got his heart set on "Les Deux Alpes", 3* hotel and 19 drags and I wanted to give either "Folgarida" in the Dolomites, or "Formigal" in the Spanish pyrenees a twirl, smaller yet somethin a little different with just a few drags..Aah well...sais la vie``````````but great suggestions, i will be checkin a few of them out. personally i dont mind Buttons or T-bars, at least they get you up that steep incline and makes it the closest i'm gonna get to being "James Bond" for a while, as I scale the top of the peak, wearing totally black, head to toe, Oakley snow kit (oh no...I'm thinkin about the "Milk tray" man, oh well, I'll settle on being "Mr Bean" and slide down the 1 in 3 incline on my arse, and arive in a tumultuous heap at the bottom in front of the adoreing queue,...YEAH..thats more like it
Thanx again Tommie |

Guys and girls,
I'm trying to set up some kinda snowboarding deal for a few peeps on 28th Feb and I'm nearly there, but, One of the girls (and the guy with the dodgey knee)refuses point blank to do the DRAGLIFTS, now we all know, Skiers and Boarders alike that drags are a bummer at the best of times and so far my findings have now cut out ALL of the "Milky Way" as 56% are drags, and i rekon that the "Dolomites" and the "Sellar Ronda" are similar, SO.....does anybody have any ideas as to where in Western Europe I can find some inexspensive resort without draglifts. HELP...Please Thanx Tommie :( |
