I'm a bit similar to you by all accounts Maxell, and if I were buying new skis tomorrow i'd get Salomon X Wings - I've tried a range of them and they always feel great, are forgiving in powder and crud, turn easily... not sure what the new season 'version; is but the Fury and Tornadoes I used last year were nice... hope that helps

Ah sorry I've now read your post, schoolboy error, and you've already booked... in my experience, no one suddenly stops needing lessons, it's just that if you 'get it' you might want to move up a group.
Re lessons in a snow dome, it's like learning to scuba dive in a swimming pool. Worth it, but an approximation of the real deal. |

Sorry if this has been said already - in a rush so can't check the whole thread - look out for 'Freshers Week' packages from TOs, which offer free tuition/lift passes/ski hire. They're in unpopular weeks but will save a packet.
Also check out Inside Out Skiing - they are running beginners classes in small groups this month. |

That's incredibly helpful thanks Ian. I will most certainly PM you nearer the time and thanks for making the effort to give me a run-down.

Thinking about LGB this year anyone got any input? Wd be for me, intermediate to advanced, Mrs T who is nervous intermediate and the young ones who have three weeks under their belts.
Especially interested in whether there is enough activity like restaurants and such in Le Chinaillon or if it feels a bit like a bolt-on and whether there are good ski schools (I.e. not ESF). Cheers |
