Hi divadobs,

We were in Soldeu for New Year and because of the exchange rate the drinks did seem extortionate!

We found Pussycat the most expensive at approx £13 for a pint and a Barcadi and Coke. The cheapest was the hotel and Aspen.

The best thing to do is look out for the Happy Hours where the drinks are half price, Avalanche has a HH 4.30-6.30pm so perfect for Apres Ski. The Villager which is at the bottom of the Gondola (mentioned above as being expensive and does have very bad service) has HH 8.30-9.30 - get in early as it gets busy for this reason alone and empties precisely at 9.31pm!! There were more but I can't remember the times...

Thanks Ross. I think it will be wise just to buy the Whole Area pass before we go, less to worry about once we're there.

JamesA - Hi, Do the individual area passes include the Ski Bus?
We've heard that if you don't buy the Big3 Whole Area pass that you have to pay for the Ski Bus @ $15/day, is this correct do you know?

There's 6 of us going to Banff in early March and we've been scouting around for the cheapest lift passes as Inghams want to charge us £432 for 10/13 days for the whole area. (£264 for 6 days plus £42 per additional day).

Buying direct from www.skibig3.com works out about the same @$78.35 per day, that is unless the pound takes a steep rise upwards and we can get a better exchange rate - we can live in hope!!

Very true and at least it's close to the Gondola.

Meeting up sounds like a good plan, we arrive on the 28th.

Re: Finding the best bars - I have been to Soldeu before but it was about 10 years and really can't remember. We did frequent most of the bars in town which is probably why I can't remember now!

I do remember that there were lockers available in the gondola station itself so you didn't have to trek anywhere with your gear, do you know if this is still the case?

Hi All,(newbie to j2ski here!)

Can't wait - me and my other half will be in Soldeu for New Year also. We're staying at Hotel Soldeu Maistre - not stayed there before so fingers crossed it will be ok!

One skier, one boarder so hope he doesn't get stuck on the flat bits!
