Dissertation research help!

I did it.

Modern bindings are fine. Touring bindings have more issues, but I guess that is a small market.

ideally we would rather an area of equal or larger size.

There are free buses to Stubai Glacier / Gletscher half an hour away. The glacier is by no means steep, and has some very long unpisted ski routes suited for intermediate or above. But in January can be cold or windy.

Big resorts give more variety, but are usually far busier, and pistes more likely to be moguled up and skiied out. Maybe France does has resorts offering best of all worlds, I only ski in Austria, but I hear some of the French resorts are really nice. But again, maybe busy, which in my mind is adds danger for all, and beginners more so.

Has long, wide easy cruising blues and reds.

Schlick2000. You have probably never heard of it, but I promise you will not be disappointed. I cannot speak for Apres Ski, this is not where you go to party. But for what you ask, fantastic.

Say hello to Seefeld for me. Wish I could go too.

I did remember you to Seefeld as we were saying goodbye for the season. There is a short blog post about the visit to Seefeld calls 'skiing slush' (being a low resort the snow was pretty atrocious) on my rollerblading blog, http://skateinstructor.com/skiing-slush.

I did it. I spend more time on drupal.org since I make a living from web dev that is more like work. This forum is a fun place to chat about skiing - but seasonal, not many of us in the northern hemisphere are up for chatting about skiing in summer :-) Today (being close enough to ski as a day trip) I go to say goodbye to my favourite ski resort for the season :-( The sailing / hiking / biking / rollerblading / swimming / other spring entertainment-season is in the air so I guess it will be goodbye to j2ski for a few months too.

Nice video. Nice resort really, I like wide, quiet, gentle pistes where you can relax a bit. Though the porridge issue is not fun. A ski resort on the same latitude as Crawley...!

I got this Hells Bell(e)s review via google : http://skigenie.com/ski-reviews-2/nordica-hells-belles-ski-review-2012-2013-a-top-womens-all-mountain-ski/

This site http://www.skis.com/Nordica-Hells-Belles-Womens-Skis-2013/277225P,default,pd.html?src=affiliate&utm_source=AvantLink&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=ProductCatalog&mr:trackingCode=FEFA37FD-7E02-E211-BFCC-001B21A69EB0&mr:referralID=NA&avad=33227_d39d7d13 has both Hells Belles and Wild Belles. There is a review tab on that site. These skis are well liked there, apart from one who says they are more for powder than carving.

As Ian said, you will adjust to it and will be fine. So it might be a little hard to turn by modern standards, but no ski can be best for all conditions.

I am sure Ian is right.

Advanced could be advanced as in good for going really fast. In this case seems to mean advanced as in you just bought a powder ski.

AllyG said "I would guess that means ski-ing so far off piste that you have to carry your skis to get there! " Sometimes when touring / hiking you carry skis. More usually you would put on a touring binding and walk uphill on the skis, and here is where light weight of ski and boots makes the going a lot less tiring. Notice that this ski has a notch in the tail so you can attach skins for this type of hiking.

If you keep the ski, it would be a great start, with some touring bindings, to get into a bit of touring, first up the side of the piste, and skiing down in whatever powder is within your skill (maybe with an instructor); then maybe book a guided tour and take them for some real off-piste adventure.
