Thanks Andy, and Ian :)

Hi Andid,
There are 26 of us booked into the Sauze hotel, and 18 of us have skied/boarded together on previous J2Ski holidays.
I don't know what the new members of the group are like, but the rest of us are really lovely people :) ;)

We are a mixture of ages, from teenagers to 'seniors'. Most of us are skiers although we have several boarders as well. And we also range from those who've only had a couple of weeks experience on the snow to those who've been ski-ing/boarding for years.

None of those who have come with us before have been 'experts' - the sort who can ski off-piste like James Bond! ;)

Most of us are happy enough to pootle about the slopes and enjoy the mountain restaurants, and sit in the bar during the evenings. So far we haven't done any hard partying during the evenings, but this may change of course in Sauze!

We usually divide up into small groups according mainly to what time people get up and are ready to go out the door and onto the slopes. It's very nice because we also meet up on the slopes and in the restaurants, and sometimes people move about from one group to another. There's no sort of formality to it.

If you'd like to join us you'd be very welcome :)

There is still availability in the Sauze hotel with Crystal, price £449 per person for a shared room, including flights and transfers and half board.

However, if you'd prefer to stay in a different hotel and just ski with us that's fine.

Never mind Ian, there's plenty of time left ...
Have you started watching the webcams now?? ;)
Thanks Gareth, that sounds very encouraging :)
That's a shame you didn't enjoy Montgenevre, Icy :(

I suppose we'll just have to wait until we get there to decide which area we like the best.
Thanks Icy :)

I think we will have several people in the group who would struggle to ski/board all the way there and back in one day.

The Montgenevre ski area sounds very good, going by the description of it on J2Ski, and I think we could have a lot of fun there. What did you think of it? Apparently it's got 100 Km of piste.

Skiing in Montgenèvre

Montgenèvre's skiing marks the Western end of the Milky Way circuit; it's the only French resort on it. Skiing takes place on both sides of the main road that runs through the resort and over the pass into Italy. The area is most fun for intermediates who will enjoy the endless variety of trails above the treeline and then plunging down through the forest. Popular routes include the wide runs down from Les Anges at the top of the resort and the long red from Le Chavlet across the Valley.

Beginners have wide sunny slopes by the village and, because of the altitude, backed up with snowmaking, the convenience of village level nursery slopes is ensured throughout the season - unlike at many other famous but lower altitude resorts. The altitude also means that Montgenèvre can genuinely maintain a sunshine record that is the envy of many, but doesn't melt too much of the snow.
Hi Icy,
Most of us could ski there and back in a day, but we want time to ski the slopes above Montgenevre as well. Plus, if we have a taxi to take us back we won't have to worry about missing the last lift home, as there's no public bus between Montgenevre and Sauze.
The taxi is only going to cost us 10 euros each anyway, so it's cheap enough :)
And it means those of us who haven't had a lot of experience boarding or ski-ing and would struggle to get there and back in one day, can come as well :)
We only get one day there included in our lift pass so we might as well make the most of it :)

Yes, that's quite right :)

And if anyone just happens to be in Sauze that week anyway, they're welcome to meet up with us on the slopes or during the evening and say 'Hi'.

It's a pleasure to have Bald-eagleman in the group with us this year - he's already organized a fancy dress evening! I will have to remember to pack something for it :)

I am organizing a mini-bus taxi to bring us back from a day ski-ing in Montgenevre, which is in France and at the other end of the ski area from Sauze. One of the many advantages of doing things in a group is that we can get cheaper rates for things like taxis :)
There are 26 people now booked on this holiday: 22 in our group booking and 4 with Crystal.
If anyone else wants to come with us they're more than welcome, and there are still rooms available in the Sauze hotel with Crystal :)
