ViaMichelin reckons just over fifty quid for the tolls which sounds about right. French Autoroutes are generally excellent and well worth the extra cost of the tolls.
When are you planning to travel? Advice? Plan to not drive on Saturdays if you can. Each season usually generates tales of at least one "perfect storm" when big snow arrives on a peak-week changeover day and causes chaos - plan to avoid that if you possibly can and mitigate it if you can't (warm clothing in car, torches, gloves, etc.). Make sure you have snow chains to hand and have practised fitting them. Preferably fit winter tyres to your car for much better grip in general and to reduce / avoid the need to put the chains on. They're not that expensive and will make your drive significantly safer and less stressful if it does snow. Also, check the AA's latest tips on driving in France; things like needing to have hi-vis vests *in the car* (not the boot) at all times, the rules on spare bulbs, warning triangles, first aid kits etc. are not always well understood and can lead to on-the-spot fines and worse. So, as it's a school, make sure you do your homework in good time! 8) And have a great trip - I've seen and heard of French resorts doing a lot to assist groups that may have particular needs. |

+1  ...but welcome to J2Ski! 8) A lot (all of them?) of seasonaires hang out on Natives, so definitely worth asking there - I'm sure there are some regulars who are residents of Les Gets. Regardless of the jealousy you might provoke; do drop back and post some updates when you're out there. |

Formigal has received the first snowfall of the Season.
It has snowed in the early morning in all the altitudes of the resort, even at the base, at 1.500 metres, and the snow is very abundant in higher valleys. Early snowfall is always welcome, as it cools and moistens the ground. As a result, the future layers of snow are going to be more solid and will last the whole winter season. The above photo shows the covering in the Anayet area of the resort. |

I'm sure we could get enough donations to cover a willyfinder for him too... |

Was great to see you all Thursday; a fair bit of "retail therapy" going on with snowb4ndit the clear winner so far! We've had quite a few new faces say hello since too, J2Skiers from Texas to Melbourne which has been cool (have a great winter road-trip, guys!).
Sadly J2Ski's "Pink Ladies" won't be with us over the weekend but they did a great job getting us (and themselves!) noticed around the show. We have a whole load of new members signed up although I suspect 20 and 30-something males may be a little over-represented in the group from the last few days... 8) We'll have Interhome and Total Heliski at the Stand today; if you're passing then do drop by and say hello. Donations of coffee always welcome... And do time your visit so you can catch some of the Big Air competition time - the demos early on were great but the 6pm competition round yesterday had some truly incredible tricks and stunts being pulled. Those guys are really quite extraordinary. Later! |

What Ian said. It will be very busy and at least with a hire car you can bail out of the jams, take a break, etc. Assumes youre happy driving in poor conditions, know how to fit chains (just in case) etc.
