No worries, I've moved Chamonix back to France for you...

Watch this space but you might just have good timing...

Clearly, you J2Skiers are a well-traveled bunch.
snowcrazy2005 wrote:They have also posted a detailed notice board chart at various off piste entry points giving information on rescue times without full kit, where to get info before going off piste, what kit you should carry and the training needed so that you know how to use it. Remember, longer than 15min and the person is not likely to recover.

These signs are in English as well!!

This sounds like a jump in the right direction! Excellent. I'll be interested to hear if the Paradiski resorts are doing something similar (I know they have the odd blackboard at the bottom of strategic lifts, and a few flags, but this sounds a lot more comprehensive).

snowcrazy2005 wrote:Does this count as local authority advice and therefore if you ignore such advice will you invalidate your insurance should you be involved in an accident off piste and need to claim?

That looks exactly like "local authority advice" to me and I think Insurers would be acting perfectly reasonably to think the same.

OldAndy has pretty much covered everything else I was about to post! 8)
For those of you going to Niederau soon.....

Enough of the bickering already! Go and play in the snow the lot of you! Admin's tired, might be grumpy, possibly hormonal (it's a man thing) and probably going postal.

The title of this thread is perfectly clear and any off-topic wibble'n'whingin' will be rapidly removed! Behave.

So, for those of you going to Niederau soon... as you were. 8)
Late this evening, after three years of sterling service, our primary server will be given a pat on the back and put out to pasture.

For those who like numbers...

In that time, server 42304 has served 60 Million Pages to 20 Million Visitors from 231 countries.

On busy days recently it's been pumping out 120,000 pages in a day, and sending 20 files per second around the world. Even with the occasional hiccup it's managed an overall up-time availability around 99.95%.

If you're logging in around midnight you might find yourself shut out for a minute or two but if all goes well our hot new servers will take up the load then.

Jolly Good! 8)

The snow report for Sauze comes to us via a third party - I have raised this with them and we should have an updated report shortly.
Guess what!!!

Is it... hunting albino badgers armed with nothing but a potato peeler? Am I close?

Ok then - skiing by moonlight? That'd be cool.
Looks rubbish...
