Andyhull,
How about, we reach a compromise? I'll wait for you all do a snowdance on Saturday and if there's no snow in Courchevel by Wednesday I get to use my shotgun

I've done my research so I know who to shoot at. It's Ullr, the Viking snow god, who's depicted on skis firing a bow and arrow in the 11th Century on a rock - I must say I didn't know the gods were ski-ing in the 11th Century

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ullr

And as for making sure the snow falls in the right place, I guess it's just like water/electricity divining - you form a picture of what you want in your mind and concentrate really hard.

Trust me - we farmers know how to control the weather - you have to take a very firm line with it

I mean look at all that snow I got in Tignes in October - a whole foot of the stuff :D

What a lovely puppy Dave :D

I don't know how you have the heart to give them back when they're ready to start their proper guide dog training. But I suppose it must be quite satisfying knowing you've helped several blind people. Did all the puppies get through their training and actually get to guide their blind owners? I imagine the training must be quite rigorous.

You've got to be firm with these Snow Gods

Now hang on Ally - a bit of stick is OK but we mustn't scare them off - they may go to live in America permanently.

Well, you dance and I'll shoot them, and we'll see how much snow Courchevel gets compared to the other resorts

And if I get flattened in an avalanche everyone will know not to shoot them again

I'm not going to dance. I'm going to get a shotgun and point it straight up at the ******

You've got to be firm with these Snow Gods

The snow forecast for Courchevel now says:

1 cm snow Saturday afternoon
1 cm snow Saturday night
1 cm snow Monday night
Snow showers Wednesday (16th).

But I don't suppose it's very reliable - judging by the poor forecasting we get here in the U.K.

Let's hope they're wrong and we get far more snow than that!

How bad is this years snow.

Thanks Verbier_ski_bum and Karen72 :D

I really appreciate hearing about the condition of the pistes from people who have recently been there. As someone else said, in another thread, saying 'hardpack' or whatever doesn't really give enough of a description.

Ally
Thanks Crispyapplepie for the update on conditions in Val Thorens :D

They are forecasting 4 cm of snow for Tuesday week in Courchevel - not much I know but better than nothing. I am hoping there will be more to follow.

Zell am See pic - maybe ?
