Hi Alison, welcome to J2Ski...

Verbier's almost always good by mid-December and their planned opening is late November.

An awful lot of snow can fall in seven weeks, so don't worry.
The start of this week brought fresh snow to parts of the Eastern and Northern Alps, with temperatures briefly dipping as the snow fell. Localized accumulations of up to 30cm were reported. Fresh snows also blessed some of the North American ski areas.

European Weather and Snow This Coming Week

The current clear and settled weather predominating across The Alps is expected to continue for the next few days, until the end of the month. Temperatures are a little milder than the seasonal average.

The latest updates from the forecast models suggest colder weather for the beginning of November, coinciding with more unsettled conditions - and an increasing likelihood of significant precipitation. We're still too far out to be sure just yet, but current indications are that the snow line should be below 1,800 metres in the Northern Alps by this time next week.

The situation should be much clearer for our next update.

Remember you can now get regular (daily if you wish) updates by e-mail - just visit Your Profile on J2Ski for the options.

For early December, that's definitely a good plan. If it snows, you'll have empty slopes, cheap flights and plenty of accommodation choices... and everyone pumped for the new season when you get there!
Damn.

From Chamonet - Antoine Montant RIP

Antoine was renowned not only for his daredevil base jumping stunts but also for being one of the best speed riding pilots in the world, winning many competitions and starring in numerous videos like this one shot earlier in Chamonix this year where he swoops down from the top of the Aiguille du Midi, riding the cable-car cables like a rail.

You are not alone!

I've just spent this evening updating our database of resort webcams and you'll see the results of that over the next few days - we now have over 2,500 for your obsessive viewing pleasure... Does that help??? 8)

And tomorrow a trawl through the weather forecast models will reveal...

Ok, I think everyone except the OP has had a go at this thread so I'm locking it now.

I'll leave it up for a few hours and then trim it back so that anyone who'd like to answer the original post can do so!
Hi folks,

I have one freebie ticket (valid for today, Thursday or Friday) for this week's London Ski and Snowboard Show.
