Hi dan_ski,
I think Bandit was possibly responding to this part of your original post:
I imagine she was simply pointing out that Grimentz still had some good snow. This is a discussion forum, where we can all chip in and add our bit, otherwise it would only be you carrying out a monologue with yourself. I don't think Bandit's posts were off-topic (wibble), and neither do I think she's hi-jacked your thread. But thank you very much for your posts :D It is nice to hear from people who live in the region and can tell us about ski conditions in their local area. It is much appreciated. Otherwise we have to rely on official snow reports and webcams (which as others have already said can be quite misleading) and the reports we get back from fellow j2skiers after they return from holiday. Hi Nadia race,
that sounds really painful  I hope the ligament heals okay or you can get it repaired, or whatever the treatment is these days. Ally |

Even here in the U.K. we can have enormous weather variations. In the past we have been sitting here in the house during the summer whilst it's tipping it down rain outside, and the combine driver is waiting for us a couple of miles down the road in glorious sunshine ready to start work and wondering what's happened to us. And likewise with the snow and frost. There was an enormous increase in the depth of snow we had, just climbing a couple of hundred feet going a mile or so up our road.
Personally, I feel totally jealous of Bandit. She's obviously picked the right place to be at the moment  Ally |

Dids,
You are not alone. I have no idea what Ian is talking about   I am however, most impressed that you've managed to ski 6 times in April. I would have thought that was far too late in the season, but clearly I am totally wrong. I suppose if you pick the right resorts and accept that it will be 'spring' conditions it can be okay. Ally |

Hi JonG,
Well, I'm glad you managed to find some snow, and you're back safe and sound, but sorry to hear about the avalanches - it sounds pretty dangerous to me  Ally |

I assumed the joke cruise liner was a dry slope, seeing as there was no roof over it and they were in the West Indies. 150m wouldn't be a bad length - shorter than the one in Milton Keynes but longer than my nearest dry slope at Pembrey.
You'd have to have buffered railings down the sides though, or you'd end up water ski-ing  Ally |

Hi Bandit,
Thanks very much for the video link. I especially enjoyed the one with the man plus gun chasing the ski-ing rabbit :D You're very lucky you still have decent snow :D Ally |

Hi Allie,
I'm glad you had a good time and your ski-ing improved, in spite of the ice, slush and puddles! :D We went to Obergurgl 4 years ago in January, and there was very little snow, depthwise, and lots of ice (but quite skiable). We have also been to Borovets in January and had little snow and puddles in the resort (it was a good thing I'd brought my wellies). Yet ski-ing in La Rosiere at Easter 3 years ago we had masses of snow (deep powder),and the same at Tignes this season in October. So I guess it all depends on what sort of season it is, and luck. Another time you might have loads of fresh snow in Obergurgl at the end of March. Ally |
