This +100 - a good breakfast is key to skiing all day.

And this. Keeping hydrated is crucial; skiing can be very deceptive in that you don't really notice how much you perspire during the day because you're cool. Leave the hip flask at home or fill it with water if you care about your skiing! 8)

Yes - good start to the new series with a nice mix of content I thought. Hopefully they'll feature a few more of our up-and-coming skiers and boarders; always good to see new talent getting some exposure.

Looking forward to the coverage of the Downhill from Wengen!

Firstly, glad you got out of that!
Meercat wrote:Anybody else been in this situation

Yes, many years ago in Tignes. Very similar to what you describe and eventually spotted another skier in the gloom.

Meercat wrote:and what did you do about it?

Never ski alone in heavy snow and/or poor vis.

Or maybe they're just doing their best to get people onto safe slopes as they recover from the storm?

Every lift will have to be checked for wind damage, and quite possibly have lumps of ice chiselled off them... and they'll have to survey every piste exposed to the huge wind-blown accumulations of snow from yesterday.

The bars and cafes will be doing well today but the resort staff and the pisteurs will be generally having a bad (and dangerous) day!

We choose a sport dictated by the weather and sometimes we just have to roll with it. 8)
Since our interview, Chemmy has been revealed to be a competitor in this year's Dancing On Ice.

This is what she had to say regarding the skating...

Chemmy wrote:'I understand some people maybe confused at my participation on DOI 2012.

I am a rehabbing athlete who has NOT quit her first love skiing. After my horrendous crash last year ice skating is enabling me to find the link between my head and metal right leg. It is helping not hindering my rehab.

I was never going to be able to compete in ski racing this year so DOI has given me numerous opportunities including teaching me how to feel my feet, strengthening sport specific muscles and raising the profile of me and the sport I love.
