Skiing in summer in Europe

Went to tiignes a few years ago. It was an early start and you had a window of a couple of hours when the snow was good. We did have fresh powder on the first of July. Probably wouldn't do it purely as a skiing holiday but mixing it in with some walks and mountin biking was good fun
Drag lifts (skiers, not boarders)

Don't mind drags, well buttons not the dreaded t-bar. Seem to remember the link from courchevel 1650 to 1850 was a long steep icy drag lined with tree stumps. Try Fernie. Cedar bowl has fantastic open glade skiing and usually deep powder on the far side BUT the only way out is a drag or a very long walk
My wife ordered these a couple of days ago. Not tried them for real yet but seem ok. The reviews on amazon are for the deluxe but there is a proper ski glove with rechargeable batteries, fancy finger tip to operate your iPhone and slot for ski pass. They are about twice the price of the ordinary ones but, if the? work are good value. Not skiing till march so will review properly then unless we get some cold weather
Left & Right Skis

Some years ago I had a pair of dynastar 8.1 omegas which were much thicker on the inside edge and pretty horrible if you tried them the wrong way round. Seem to remember my x screams were left and right but think it was just the shape of the plastic tip. Just to even up wear I tend to swap my skis left to right.

Girlfriends Feet

My wife had a similar problem a couple of years ago, lost both nails and had sore feet. One possibility that was suggested was that she was ski-ing leaning back in her boots which was causing her toes to lift up onto the front of her boots. I see it was your girlfriend's first trip so maybe this was part of the problem.
