The Lecht to open today - 4th April 2012

This just in from Winter Highland...

Good Morning Snow Riders, the Lecht is scheduled to restart the 2012 Season on Wednesday Morning!!

From breaking warm temperature records just a week ago, winter has finally returned to Highland Scotland and the Lecht is set to restart the 2012 Scottish Snowsports season at 8.30am on Wednesday, a full 38 days after the last lift served riding. Get up and play while you can!

At dusk on Tuesday the plan was to operate all beginner lifts and the Buzzard Poma on the main runs. The Buzzard side has caught the bulk of the snow with a full cover of groomed machine packed fresh snow between the fences and plenty of options for off-piste lines.

The Piste Bashers have been working on the Snowy Owl, Grouse and Eagle runs on the main side of the road, but some areas of these runs was scoured by the strong wind overnight and at dusk needed a bit more. However with further snow showers expected overnight and ongoing drifting it maybe possible to open some more main lifts during Wednesday.

Outrageous...

I think you need to add some pictures of the "awful" skiing though please?

Oh yes you do. 8)

I'm sure I wrote something up way back when but can't find it right now. Great ski area, if a little disjointed in places. You're going to find Champoluc's nightlife pretty quiet after St.Anton and Mayrhofen but it's positively banging compared to Gressoney and Alagna...

More later...
New boots, more lessons or both?

Do you think your "short" muscles resulted from the leg break way back? May well be that the root of your issue goes back to then.

I'd be inclined to start with a specialist (ski/sports) physio to assess your legs (muscles, bones, flex, etc.), work out exactly what the problem is and go from there. You might end up with a programme of gym exercises and stretches that go a long way to fixing things.

A boot fitter should be able to find a way to cushion your shin while making space for your callus, but it does sound as if there's something more fundamental going on with your legs.

HTH... but you now have the summer to find a solution. 8)
Everybody... please keep this thread for discussion of the booked trip, by those who are going and those who are considering it.

Ally's doing a great job with the organisation - I'm just pitching in here to help herd a few (cool) cats...

Please use the other threads for discussion of other possible group holidays and meet-ups.

So... this is for the group going (or thinking about going) to Tignes, January 13th 2013!

Thank you. 8)

It does.

Actually, don't.

His name was Tom Lynch and his family haven't even laid him to rest yet.

He was one of us, a skier, and - it appears - he may have made a mistake and paid the ultimate price.

Little else needs be said, but if you think this couldn't possibly happen to you, then you're a clue short.
