Hi Dids,
It's nice to know we're not all miserable old xxx's :D

I'm just being greedy really. I've had one ski holiday this year and I want another one.

I hope you and your family have a really great time :D
Flying with Swissair - Ski baggage

According to the link to the Swiss website given by Far Queue, I rather think it's not just the skis that are carried free but the whole set of ski equipment:

Winter sports equipment
A or B
A: 1 helmet, 1 pair of ski boots, 1 pair of ski sticks, 1 pair of skis
B: 1 snowboard, 1 pair of snowboard boots

It sounds like a truly excellent deal to me :D

But I think if it was me I'd print it out and take it with me - just in case!

Dave - did you remember to time the gondola up from Brides-le-Bain to the centre of Meribel? And please find out what time it starts and closes. Thanks :D

Jenniewren80 - La Plagne

Voodoo1976
Tropicana - Megeve

Have I got this right, and who else is going :?:

I was thinking, people could copy and paste the relevant list, or quote, and add/remove/correct their names themselves - in case I get fed up doing this after a bit

I like seeing all the names in a list - it's easier to remember who's going where and it's easier for people to see if anyone's going to the same place in case they want to meet up.

But I think we should only do an actual list the week before people go, because otherwise we'd have around 16 lists at the beginning of the season

We can still count sleeps months in advance though :D

I've got about 300 to go

Hi Allie,
Marksman assures me it's quite easy, but last time I tried I couldn't get the website to work

I've got to go out now but you are very welcome to have a go :D

If you work out how to do please let us all know and I'll have a go when I get back. Mind you - only ski-related smilies - none of that 'adult' stuff we all got told off about

Oh, nice job Iceman

borovets samokov or rila hotel?
Started by User in Bulgaria, 5 Replies
I have been ski-ing in Borovets and I wouldn't go again unless I had no other choice, but many people seem to actually like it.

As long as you don't mind the limited pistes and poor infrastructure then you might get on okay, especially if you plan on making full use of the cheap alcohol :D

They seem to have plenty of snow at the moment - 250 upper and 190 lower - and historically the end of March is often quite good, but of course trying to predict how much snow there will be is pretty much only guesswork right now.

The Rila hotel is right next to the piste whereas the Samokov is a bit further away, and there aren't any free ski buses. When I was there a few years ago there was just a horse-drawn carriage you paid for. But I have been in both hotels (just to have a look) and they both seemed fine by Bulgarian standards.

But there are plenty of bargains around for that date in decent resorts - like Igluski are offering free area lift passes and a chalet in Val d'Isere for £500 for that week. But food and drink are definitely much more expensive in France than Bulgaria.

Have fun, anyway, wherever you go :D

Hi Snapzzz,
I am trying to think of fun, ski related things, for us all to do - like make ski smileys that we can surprise the others with when they get back

Or, you could try and think of another fun thread :?:
