Assuming the lift pass costs £200 and the ski hire £100, then you mean you would be looking for a catered chalet package holiday for £500?

I should think this would be possible, myself. In fact, I just had a look on the Inghams website and they're offering the 3 star Catered Chalet Sonrier in Courchevel for £479 p.p. for the 5th January 2013. They say it is 200m from the piste, and I selected London flights which go from Stansted to Geneva. It seems to be an extra £29 to go to Chambery.

I don't know what this chalet is like, but it shows it is possible.

We go self-catering as well, to the 3 Valleys and it generally costs us about £1000 p.p. because we've been going either at New Year or Feb half-term when it's expensive. This price includes the direct Eurostar, transfers, accommodation, ski hire, lift passes and ski lessons, but not food.

But I reckon we save a lot on lunches because we get ski-in ski-out accommodation so we can go back for lunch and tea. It's very easy to spend £20 per head on lunches and drinks in a mountain restaurant in the 3 Valleys, which for 7 days works out at £140 p.p. And we don't spend anything like this much shopping for food.

Package Chalet holidays can be very good value if you have kids because some of the TO's do special offers on things for the kids.

That sounds really annoying Mark203

Well done for typing this message and sending it before you got off

The only time that ever happens to me is if I type a very long message, and I've got wise to it now and I save it in Word or somewhere - just in case! And the same thing happens if the internet cuts out for some reason - the message gets lost.

Have you tried using the new feedback button to report this problem?

I will be very interested to hear any answers on this myself, as I don't know the solution to your problem. Best of luck :D

What a lovely video! :D

It's so nice to see the family out enjoying themselves on the ski slopes, although it did make me feel a bit jealous ...

And it was so clever of you to video lots of different things and cut and stitch it all together.

It looks like you had a great time :D

And don't worry about the music - those who don't like music can always turn it off.

Thanks for the lovely photos Daved :D

It doesn't look like there's much snow down in Brides, but it looks okay in Meribel itself.

Is anyone else off ski-ing next week?

I don't remember the instructions being very comprehensive, but I think it's fairly obvious how to use it - you just attach each end to you ski poles. How it helps with ski technique remains to be seen, but I'm really looking forward to trying it out as I need all the help I can get!

I shall look forward to hearing your report on it :D

And if I find strapping my poles together doesn't help, I can always try using it to tie my skis together - my last instructor was threatening to do this to me because I ski with them too far apart

Good Heavens - How amazing

You mean I've actually won something?

:D :D :D :D

Now that I seem to have won one of these, I thought I'd better find out what it is

The website is in English, but the video explaining how to use it is in some Germanic language (sorry, not very good at languages).

Hopefully, when it arrives it will have some instructions with it.

Little Snapzzz Skis to Morillon video.

Snapzzz,
I don't know about Little Snapzzz, but I find myself hanging back when I'm scared.

What works for me is having a relaxed, amusing ski instructor who keeps cracking jokes so that I have to lean forwards to hear the next joke and I forget to notice how steep/icy etc. the slope is

So what I'm saying is that for me, anyway, my ski-ing goes totally to pieces when I'm feeling anxious, but when I'm feeling happy and confident I relax and adopt the correct position and generally speaking all goes well :D

I think the place to correct something as basic as position is the most gentle, quiet, least intimidating, and most familiar bit of piste you can find.
