22 year old dies in skiing accident

That's awful news

That news article says he died because he skied into a snow cannon. I thought they're always wrapped in that orange padding in case anyone skies into them?

Hi Nelly, I am no good at counting

I'm doing these lists by date, because I find it easier. I'm hoping that if people like my lists then Admin will take on this job for next year. I used his new feedback button to suggest it. And then people could enter where and when they're going when they book it. That way others could see which J2Skiers will be in the same resort on the same date and perhaps think about meeting up, or share resort information, or maybe do a car share or something. And it's nice for newbies and those who don't post very often to see that they're not forgotten because they're on my list!

As Brooksy said, I am going a bit 'Mumsy'

And also, I like seeing where everyone's going, and sharing in their excitement before they leave, and hearing about how their trip went after they got back.

But I thought maybe we could keep the 'how many sleeps' thread going as well.

Are you going to do a report on the Skiwelt for us? I haven't done one on Meribel but I wasn't sure there was much point because loads of people have already been to the 3 Valleys.

Oh, and I've added Trencher to the list for those going on the
17th March because he pulled a fast one on me and left all of a sudden on the 20th March, for Utah

This discussion is becoming quite interesting

So, what are the differences between French and Austrian ski resorts?

Suppose you were teleported into an Austrian or French ski resort, how long do you think it would take you to find out which country you were in (and no cheating by reading shop signs etc.)?

And what would give it away first? (Apart from the language of course).

I think we should all try and be nice to each other, and not hurt each other's feelings. But I admit I often find this very hard myself and I seem to accidentally upset people and then I do my best to apologize and try to put things right. I find it very difficult sometimes to express the opposing point of view without sounding rude.

And as for the debate about whether we like lying on beaches or not - I don't. I don't usually have a summer holiday because we're too busy and they're too expensive, but when we do go we're walking/kayaking/diving/sailing/windsurfing - not lying on a beach!

I live close to a beach in a top holiday destination so I'm actually quite happy to stay here all summer and just take the odd day off here and there to go exploring new beaches/castles/walking up in the mountains/out to events etc.

I am very brave and I WAS suffering in the name of science/J2Ski

I wanted to make sure of my facts before I posted the details up on here.

Lots of times I've found that by the time the holiday is up on the internet it's gone - you know the sort of thing that happens in certain supermarkets when they advertise something amazingly cheap and in fact they only have 2 of them and by the time you get there they've all gone

But this does seem to be a genuine bargain - as Tony said :D

Anyone booked it yet?

No, not really OldAndy - I wish I was but I've got too much work to do.
That's what the wink was for - like this see

I hope someone from J2Ski picks up one of these bargains :D

Tony's quite right - those holidays are amazingly cheap

I phoned Rocket Ski just now to check, and I could go to Serre Chevalier on the 24th March for a week staying in the club hotel Le Grand Aigle (2 star) supposedly ski in/ski out for a total of £477 including:

flights from Manchester transfers and accommodation = £179
lift pass = £160
hire their top skis = £68
single supplement =£70.

No-one mentioned a late booking fee? What is this?

Bye everyone - sorry no-one else can spare the time
