Personally i found the transition to parallel came naturally and happenned with out any thought on my part whatsoever. And if i recall correctly it was a natural consequence of gaining speed.
To move to Parallel i would advise that you start by making your plough (V) shape smaller and smaller, this will allow you to pick up a little more speed and also bring your skis to a straighter orientation.
Try to use the plough only when turning, keeping your skis straight at all other times.
Get to this point and i think you will start to 'feel' yourself wanting to go to parallel turns.

Of course i am not instructor, thats how it happened for me.
There are some lovely pics in that collection Bandit. I wish i lived closer to scenery like that.
Sadly the highest summit around locality is a 60's tower block!
I was just wondering if any other J2Skiers seek thrill from other sports during the off season?
As my next Ski trip is not until 2012 i was considering resurrecting my Skydiving past, which i put on hold when my daughter was born.
I would love to get back into it and maybe progress onto my ultimate ambition to try my hand at Base Jumping.

Other than that i don't really partake of any other sports, apart from riding my bike.

How do you get your off season thrills?

I was only thinking about you today mate, i was wondering how you got on.

Andorra is pretty good, we went to Arinsal but would not go back as it's too small.
I would save up and go to a bigger and better resort. We went to La Plagne this year and it brought me on leaps and bounds.

Get booking next years and give yourself something to look forward to.

Woohoo! Welcome to the club.

At the mo we are looking at around £1200-£1300 for 2 adults and 1 child SC.
Do you think it will get cheaper than that? I have noticed that late deals seem to be become less just lately and the TO's are favouring early bookings.

I was looking at the week between xmas and new year, the flights seem to be on xmas eve. I was just a touch worried about the crowds!!

@FB
Leaving late sounds good but i would prefer to be booked and know what is happening.

Of course the other main reason to go early is to give my self the excuse to have two holiday next year, perhaps on in early march. I cannot pull my daughter of of school twice in three months.

Looking at the prices for Xmas week (26th Dec onwards) i was pleasantly surprised at the cost and are therefore seriously considering it for next year.

Can i ask those that have skied over xmas what their thoughts are? Is it way too busy? Is the early season just to early to risk snow wise? Would you recommend it?

We are looking at ADH or Flaine.

Thanks
