Snozone at Castleford is opening its doors to the public this Friday as part of the Winter Olympic themed Slide2Sochi roadshow. Visitors will be able to ski with BBC Ski Sunday legend and Olympian Graham Bell as well as meeting three of Great Britain's future Olympic stars.

Running from 10am - 4pm on Friday 20th September, the roadshow will not only be a celebration of all things Olympic less than six months from the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, it will also be the perfect chance for those new to the sport to get involved with £5 ski and snowboard taster sessions as well as enjoying £5 ice sliding and sledging.

Three of Great Britain's current ski and snowboard team, Ski Cross racer Pam Thornburn, freestyle snowboarder Katie Ormerod and half pipe skier Rob Machon will be on hand to tell their story about how they got into snowsports, give tips on the snow and of course and sign autographs. There will also be members of the Disability UK skiing and snowboarding squad doing on snow demonstrations and showing off their impressive sit skis and equipment.

The Slide2Sochi roadshow is being run in conjunction with governing body Snowsport England and will be buzzing with Olympic fever with visitors able to sign a giant snowball with messages of good luck for the British wintersports athletes.

BBC Ski Sunday presenter Graham Bell said:
"The Slide2Sochi roadshow is a fantastic way to raise awareness of the Sochi Olympics and Paralympics. There is going to be a great Olympic buzz at Snozone on Friday and I cannot wait to meet some of our future stars and hope they'll all be looking forward to seeing the events in Sochi where I'll be presenting the television coverage from the mountains."

Well that's my first new ski fact of the day... you can ski into Switzerland (Engadin Samnaun) from Ischgl!

Take 3 minutes and find out more about Ischgl...

Not at all... I think Icey's better half boards (although I thought he was trying to convert her... ).

We publish snow forecasts for 35-ish Czech ski areas; the current condition reports are patchier but we can try... which ones are you interested in?
So when will we see the first J2Skier "starring" in one of these videos???

How active are the "other activities"? Sounds like you want "towns with good skiing" rather than just ski resorts, so... how about Serre Chevalier (lots of different activities in the area and an actual town - Briancon - to explore)?

Will you have your own transport or be relying on public transport and/or tour operator transfers?

Me me, I saw it too!
Nice idea from the Tirol Tourist Board...

In March 2013 a small film crew from the UK went to several ski resorts in the Austrian Tirol with the aim of meeting people on the chairlifts, and asking them what they honestly thought of the resorts. The following film from Kitzbuehel includes insider tips, and general resort info from the people who know it best: the clients, ski instructors and random folk met when making the films.

As you'd expect, there's lots about Kitzbuhel on J2Ski; start with Kitzbühel and follow the links from there (and from this page).
