Tony, Yes I am now resigned to the fact that our ski season is now over. I have put the storage wax on our skis until they come out of hibernation. Although were talking summer holidays, I'm beyond all help because I'm hunting for next seasons January trip already. I must take my medication but Austria (somewhere new) is looking good  If you had brought the skis it would torment you having to wait sooo many months before using them!

There very lush and certainly at that price! I bet you wish you got them now however, £450 could go towards an Easter trip
Hi Dave,

I've been looking to do the same for January 2012. There are many variants depending on when you are going for best snow conditions etc. If your opt for Salzburg then there is Schladming with a direct train link to the resort however, at 720m it not the highest and you would be looking for a powder week. A higher resort near to Salzburg (1 hour/90k) is Obertauern. This is higher and should prove more snow sure at approx 1700m. If you opt for Innsbruck you are spoilt for choice with the likes of Obergurgl, Solden, St Anton, Lech, Zurs to name just a few. They are all, I think, within 2 hours of the airport. Austria has a good network of trains and maybe worth considering. Please keep us informed as it may assist others with their DIY.

Dave Mac wrote:Alistair! You know how to wound a man! All five sets of my skis were bought new. However, it just might be true that I have an eye for a good purchase!
My new skis are Atomic Thingys, cost new 390 Euros. With the sale discount, Dave Mac discount, and.... 10% off for the Wildschonau Tennis club discount, I paid, erm 180 Euros. With Bindings....
I did fail to buy gloves, where a right thumb piece would be useful, Sallos, but then I have stitched mine, and a jacket for the wife, (phew) ~ at one stage, in Hinterglemm she was looking at 700 Euro jackets!

 Dave, I would say they are a good bargain at 180 Euros. Now what about treating Mrs Mac, you know she's worth it  But 700E is a bit steep I must say! :D

I did buy another pair in the Worgl Hervis sales, three weeks ago, largely to provide additional protection for my dodgy knee. Very easy turners, and a bonus was a higher speed on our speed gun.

Dave, I assume the Worgl Sale is based upon second hand and refurbished skis? What pair did you puchase and were they a little bargain
