Why not buy your skis before you go and hire boots in Obergurgl? By mid-March the shops will be selling off gear. You could get sorted over there. Alternatively, play the robbing shysters at their own game. Get yourself measured up and fitted in the shop, then wait till you get home before buying exactly the same boots on-line.
I'm not suggesting we should all start doing this. I would be more than happy to pay a premium for a good boot-fitter's time. It's just that your circumstances are a little bit different to most and the prices being quoted in that resort do smack of somebody trying to 'nail your cap on.' :) |

Take a look at this site. Be careful with the Black Pearls. Lots of folks saying they are great in the powder but not so great on the hard, packed pistes that are more usually the norm in Europe. Might not be a problem for you as long as you know what you require from your skis. Sport Conrad doing the Koa 78 with bindings mounted (always liked Fischers) for 299€. |

Here's a link that you might find useful. Snow should still be OK on the Cristallo (2900m) and the Tofana (2500m). Cinque Torri area is stunning but I can't imagine the horse-tow across a long flat section at the end of the Armentarola ('Hidden') Valley will still be running in April. Don't know if you have been before. If not, bring a goood camera and prepare to 'have your mind blown' by the scenery -) . Have a great trip! |

...or, if you really do have no time for shopping, there's always Amazon. Loads of stuff there and, for a few quid extra, guaranteed next day delivery.

No. For skiing, silly! -) Just wondered if this was an equipment issue as much as a technique issue.

Love it. The clips of the fun park reminded me of the last time we were there. From the chairlift we watched a guy take a huge fall on one of the jumps where he managed to snap a ski in half! We laughed and sang the 'Muppet Show' theme (he was well out of earshot). He then humbled us by skiing back to Canazei (the same route we were taking), at the same speed as us, on one leg with his broken ski under his arm. Don't some people know how to really p!$$ you off? -)
