yep ..2015 half term is the same dates for the whole of the UK unlike this year. I think most of France and Holland are also the same week so the TO's really do have you over a barrel!!

Of course the other side to this is that of airline profits. having been involved with these metal boxes in a past life the story is all about payload. Less payload better fuel efficiency...more profit for a full aircraft. So airlines charge for extra weight. But what really p****s me of is paying more to carry my skis and boots and a suitcase on difficultjet I find myself stuck seated between 2 FF who each weigh more than me,my case and skis combined but don't have to pay extra for being overweight lazy prats!

I think may be Xmas & new year should be on your radar and then possible dust the car down and drive you tend to find the price of fuel does not go up compared to flights …..

Or use Wickers highly competitive transfers!!

This thread really tickles me...I am one of the people who doesn't lock his skis or boot bag and has also traveled light for a weeks sking with just hand luggage. You just need to be a bit cute. Wear at much as you can to get on the aircraft including your ski jacket and gloves...after all it is winter!...once in departures take it off and put it in a carrier bag ....just like carrying duty free. Wear synthetic wicking clothes that are not heavy or bulky and you can wash them daily (if required) as it dries easily on a radiator and you still have load of room for the fashion statement in the bar....not that anyone who is skiing gives a dam  I take at least 3 pairs of ski socks and 5 layering stuff and I still manage to carry a kettle, T bags and sugar as well.
