I don't have a problem with helmets (for motorcyclists)being made optional for those with insurance to fund life-long nursing care.

Without wanted to go too off topic, I do agree to an extent but the individual should ultimately be given the choice. What effect that has on his or her family is again for that individual to consider. As for costing the state, simple rule, if you don't wear a helmet, you forfeit your right to NHS treatment, which would link in nicely with your insurance suggestion.

As for skiing helmets. I think the chances of you doing serious damage on a week long holiday are pretty remote, and your own actions can reduce this even further. I have no desire (yet) to ski off piste, and keep my speed relative to my ability, and like when I drive, or ride my scooter, I ski as if everyone else on the slope is a clown... Expect the unexpected.

Most places have heated racks and lockers, as others have said. If you're worried about leaving ski's while you have a jar, just find a spot by the window so you can keep an eye on them.

...I've been to Borovets twice and thoroughly enjoyed both occasions. The following year went to Kaprun and my brother was assaulted resulting in an early trip home... Make your own mind up...
Wearing a ski helmet (or any helmet in my opinion) should be a personal choice. If I want to take the risk of not wearing one, that's my choice, I don't want someone dictating what I should or shouldn't wear.

As Nelly says; probably most of it... if you pick your accommodation carefully you should be able to fall out of your window / balcony and just about slide down to the base of the lifts without waking up. Just remember to go to sleep in all your gear each night and you'll wake up on the lift! No time wasted. Perfect. 8)

Not sure if that quite fits in with EU regs.

I'm surprised the political elite haven't had this post removed.

I'm flying BA (not my choice) out of London city so hopefully the ungrateful oppressors won't ruin my holiday.

As Stewart says, I'm more worried about this countries inability to plan for, or operate after a very small amount of 'out of the ordinary' weather...
I'm not entirely sure how you can have an opinion of a resort without going there...

I have however been to Borovets a couple of times, and thoroughly enjoyed it on both occasions; we went early Feb both times. Granted, 2008 conditions were better as it had snowed most of the day and night before we got there, but the following year was fine. Some of the lower slopes were iffy, but on the whole, it was very good.

There is one run in particular (blue, I can't remember the name) that takes you through the woods, and twists and turns all the way down to the resort, it was fantastic…

There are very few snow sure resorts in Europe, and if a budget trip is what you're after, Bulgaria has to be top of the list.

This is true. If you're going on a skiing holiday, in all honesty, how much time are you going to spend in your Hotel anyway??

I'm going to be staying in La Vanoise myself. It seems to have a mixed bag of reviews, but its right next to the lifts, so I'll be skiing into bed, and then skiing straight out again in the morning...
