Tony,
I know the answer to this one - 'To err is human' (Alexander Pope).

However, the last EHIC arrived in the post today :D

But we have a new problem - number 4 I believe - my daughter has just confessed that she left all her ski stuff at uni

Fortunately there is a very simple solution to this - she can wear my old spare stuff

I am NOT going to go out and buy her any new ski gear

Thanks for the video Bedrock Barney :D

I think you did very well

I'm sure I'd have fallen over long before you did
Oh well, never mind Joe. At least it means you can use the cheaper chalet transfer to Geneva, as long as you don't mind getting up very early! Otherwise you could pay a bit more, get up a bit later, and take the bus to the airport.

It looks like Cat and I will be ski-ing on our own on the final Sunday.
Hi Joe,
Well done for getting your flights booked

If next year's bus timetable is the same, then you should be able to catch a bus in Geneva at 15-30 which arrives in Les Brevieres at 18-30 :D

What time is your flight back?

Edit
Now we're on a new page I'd just like to remind everyone that we still have places available on this J2Ski group holiday to Tignes Les Brevieres. But you have to book by 1st May to get our group discount. After this date the chalet owners, Bonjour, will start letting the surplus rooms to other guests.
The holiday details are on the first page of this thread. If you're interested in coming with us would you please send me a pm or post a message on this thread.

Thanks,

Ally

Don't forget your thermals !!

Snow forecast pretty much all the time you are in Tignes, from about the barage and higher.

Highest temperature forecast up on the glacier is -14C

It was warmer in January

Hi Andy,
No, we're not packed yet - I'm just doing the washing so I've got something clean to pack

We had a few problems to sort out:
1. Out of the 3 of us, only I had a valid passport - my daughter's was nicked and my husband's was out of date. But now all 3 of us have valid passports :D

2. All our EHIC cards (for free hospital medical care in France) were out of date. We've now got 2 of the new ones - still waiting for the third one.

3. My younger daughter has been horribly ill with some feverish flu bug - but she seems to be improving a bit now :D

I've been keeping an eye on the weather forecast for Tignes as well - my husband hates the cold and the snow and I'd confidently told him there wouldn't be any at resort level at this time of year

It looks like sun on Monday, rain/snow Tuesday (depending on the altitude), heavy snow Tuesday night, rain/snow Wednesday - total of 39 cm snow over the 3 days

I just hope we can see where we're going, in all that snow 8)
Thanks Dids, what a great idea

It's an awful shame they don't have a Tesco voucher deal with Eurostar anymore

Dids - you just need to work on your family a bit harder and get them to agree to coming on this holiday with us :D

Don't quite understand that one, but I'm sure it makes sense to you

Don't worry about it Ian :D

I seem to understand very little of anyone's posts these days

And - back on topic - the best food I ever had in a mountain restaurant was in Obergurl, at the top of the one man chair lift (which I think has been replaced now). It was a wooden platter covered in thick slices of grainy-looking bread with a wide selection of cheeses.
I have done some more research re public bus transfers between Geneva and Tignes Les Brevieres.

Here is the link to the information on the public bus for the ski season that's just finished (not for next season):

http://www.gva.ch/en/PortalData/1/Resources/fichiers/publications/publications_informative/aeroski-bus.pdf

According to this information the bus costs 64 euros single and 109 euros return, and takes between 3 hours and 3 1/2 hours.

Here is the timetable (Sunday is 7 and Monday is 1 etc.):

It looks as if there's a bus for Les Brevieres leaving Geneva on Sundays at 10 a.m. 12-15 a.m. 15-30 and 19-15.
And there's a bus leaving Les Brevieres for Geneva on Sundays at 0700, 10-55, 14-10, and 16-20.

So, assuming next season's timetable is roughly the same as this one, I should be able to get the bus from Les Brevieres on Sunday 20th January at 16-20, arrive at Geneva airport at 19-50, and get my EasyJet flight for Gatwick which departs at 21-30. And this transfer will cost me 64 euros, which at todays conversion rate of 1.18 euros to the pound, is £54.

I phoned them (phone number 0033 4 79 68 32 96) to ask about possible timetables for next year, and they said there is usually a bus on Sundays leaving early morning, around midday, and during the afternoon.
