Thanks for that...looking forward to it.
Virgin Snow did a great deal and have added 3 days in New York City at the end just to top it off.

We are beginner to intermediate skiers and are looking to go to the Gand Hotel, North Conway in Vermont next New Year (2007/08).

Has anyone been there and give some advice. We appear to be getting a good deal from Virgin Snow Holidays.

Your comments would be welcomed.

Just returned from Valmeinier. First ever ski holiday. Thought it was famtastic.

Ski in and out of accommodation. Food was okay, plenty of small supermarkets or restaurants to try.

We spent the day (beginners), doing a run, stopped for refreshments, then spent the rest of the day ski-ing.

The last section down to the start of the tows was not great for beginners.

Very few British there and a knowledge of French helps.

Just spent my first ski-ing holiday at Valmeinier in SW France.

Fantastic place, with everything on your doorstep. We skied in and out of the accommodation.

The Apres-Ski was good with resonable prices...not ripped off as people had been saying about other places.

From the minute we arrived till we left, the majority of the time was on skis.

Excellent for beginners, with a 2km green run which was great fun.

Fantastic views from the bar/ cafe at 2000mtrs up.

Certainly would go back.

I spent January in Eastern Canada and there were 5 good ski areas within an hour of the Ottawa area. Not busy, some good runs (I learnt to ski whilst I was there).

The hills were not high, but there is snow on the ground continually from December to March.

Calabogie Peaks and Pakenham were excellent.

Tremblant was the in place to go for experienced skiers.
I certainly hope you're right.

My first ever ski-ing holiday is to south east France on 6th January, and the resort I'm going to has had no snow yet.....looks like I should take shopping money!!!
How late can you ski Scotland?

Cairngorm, being the highest may still have snow into April. We have school holidays the first two weeks, so it may be busy.

Nevis Range is the next highest and the likely to have the last of the sking too.

The other runs depend on weather conditions and may be patchy.

Myself, girlfriend, and her 13 y o are off to Valmeinier for our first ski holiday anywhere (apart from the indoor slope in Glasgow).

Firstly, what clothes should we take for the evening wandering about the town? Lined walking trousers, or jeans, or the salopettes.

And can anyone have any tips about the resort. We bordering intermediate skiers, but prefer the beginner slopes.

Thanks,

Douglas
