Well folks, you can break out the (snow) dancing boots.
The warm Alpine autumn is about to break down and current forecasts are showing a 15C drop in temperature over the next couple of days... together with some pretty widespread PRECIPITATION! So, come Tuesday, we should be seeing some pretty white views on many of the Alpine webcams with some decent falls of snow right down to 1200m (maybe even lower in places). It's far too early to draw any conclusions about the season, of course, and it may not last that long down low as the ground's quite warm... but still nice to see and definitely worth getting excited about! 8) Enjoy the views (on Tuesday). |

Usually good snow by then; here are the charts for the last two seasons - well over a metre base by late January :-
You'll be fine. |

Snip, snip, snip, keep it friendly please gentlemen. Pistols at dawn at a ski resort of your choice - but not in the forum TVM, Adders.
Back on topic please... 8) Anything else will be removed, ta. |

Mr Q is wise in the ways of snow; beginning of March has been close to the deepest snow for the past 2 winters... ![]() |

Fixed that for you - no charge (this time), Adders. If you want to advertise, then do it honestly and pay for it like everyone else. |

Getting to Gressoney and back with beginners will be "interesting"...
A much better option might be Antagnod; from memory 15-20 minutes on the regular ski bus that goes up from Champoluc. There are only a couple of lifts and a handful of runs so it stays very quiet but the views are fantastic and there's a long, easy Blue that winds through the trees for confidence building (my OH loved it when she'd only done half a dozen days or so). Think there's one Red, a couple of Greens and a big chunk of freeride terrain straight down from the top lift. :) It's also an option if the weather closes in... we had a bit of an epic powder day, under blue skies, up there when Champoluc was completely closed down by wind and avy risk. |
