Hi Dave Mac
Thanks for the PM and answer on here. I haven't had chance to get on here for awhile as the traveling has been keeping me busy! I am currently in Te Anau and head to Queenstown either tomorrow or Monday depending on the weather! I am trying to get to Milford Sounds however the road is closed due to a high avalanche risk - snow chains are in the car so i am ready to go  I have been checking out the different resorts and the forecasts and think I am going to go with The Remarkables. However they did shut for 2 days last week due to weather so am hoping it improves over the next couple of days as I am running out of time in New Zealand..... Will let you all know how I get on next week! Brimster |

Ok guys I need some help......
Where would you recommend to go skiing for a couple of days in New Zealand. It makes no difference to me whether it is North or South Island as I am traveling around both islands access won't be a problem either as I am hiring a car. Unfortunately it will only be a couple of days as I have family, friends and lots of places to see in my 4 weeks. I am hoping some of you guys can help as it will to save me having to hunt around and research and therefore waste my valuable surfing time in Peru or chilling time in the Galapagos  |

Tino you are making me hugely jealous
This coming from a person who has seen those views only a few weeks ago and has just spent a week in the Bolivian jungle and pampas!! I think I will definitely calling back into that area before I head to New Zealand for their snow! Keep reporting...... |

Tino I can't believe the bad luck and after all the fretting over th snow!!
Santiago is an ok city but it didn't overwhelm I can definitely recommend you to visit Valparaisio and if the pass is open spend a few days in Mendoza as it as a fab city and the wine tours are even better :)!! |

As promised the picture of the pass taken a week ago so it should now look a lot more snow covered!! It was impressive nonetheless!!

I met someone who came up from Mendoza yesterday as the road pass is still shut and they are saying that it is going to stay shut until at least Monday!!
Fingers crossed for you Tino.... Looks like I;m not going to get any skiing in until the beginning of August due to the lack of snow I have had to keep moving north so head into Bolivia later today! :P |

Tino I am pleased to report that it is snowing in Portillo and that the Santiago/Mendoza pass was shut today (causing much frustration for those in my hostel this morning who got up early to get the bus to Santiago).
There is definitely snow up there as I crossed over the pass on Monday but it definitely needs a few good dumps to make perfect conditions.... I will try to post a picture of the pass in the next few days for you its pretty and very impressive!! |

Tino you really do need to start doing the snow dance as there is a distinct lack of it over here. :x
However I have been speaking to the locals and they all say the same that the snow is arriving later and later each year but the season is lasting a bit longer into September. They seem confident..... It is forecast snow/rain for tomorrow so watch this space  |
