Brucie,
Boredom ???who asked that ? Went to Soldeu last two seasons, this year was under pressure to go to Kirchberg !! But Soldeu and The Harp would win hands down. If Carlsberg did winters would be to work in the Harp and ski every day. Lucky man. |

Try Andorra Pas de la Casa / Soldeu, huge area, great value, best schools in Europe, not too challenging, great apres ski..... and last 3 years March has had excellent snow.

What's Kirchberg like in early Feb historically? end of Feb in Westendorf/Ski Welt last year was mogul city which no one (in our group!)enjoyed , going back to Austria this year for a significant birthday celebration (only reason as gimme Grandvalira anyday! :D)so worried we will get a repeat of last year....make me feel better go on, go on, go on.

No for sure. Austria I found (V Andorra/Bulgaria/Whistler)is more challanging to this Intermediate anyway. Some Reds in Austria would deffo be Black elsewhere. -) |

Been there 4 Times !!! and I'm Irish so .....
Like everywhere it depends on what you want !!! Good noisey bars and cheapish beer ? You wont be sorry ! Family and beginners ..... Maybe not. (Soldeu down road much better for that) Does carry the tag Mandorra, so if male dont go hoping to meet females ! Snow making is good, and schools are good. Red into village is quiet daunting for the beginner on first week and it's unavoidable if you want to see more than Pas side. (again Soldeu is better easier on the beginner) Have to give you a few negatives, but I went back 3 times and loved it, and have been to Soldeu last two years(getting older you see!!) I love the whole Granvalira area and will hopefully go back next year so..... GWAN GWAN GWAN !!!!! -) |

Just to Epilog the debate, we're (sadly) back in Green Ireland, and have had a fantastic week of 7 hr per day skiing for 6 days in Grandvalira, based out of excellent Soldeu. There had been no snowfall for the previous 4 weeks, and as with Murphy's Law in action, it began to snow as we left back our skis on Sat evening and had not stopped as we boarded the bus to airport the following morning.
I've made myself a few promises from all this, I promise never to listen to Andorra nay sayers again , if it does not snow for 4 weeks prior to my arrival I promise I wont fret or worry because this excellent well run resort has all the snow making facilities that will GUARANTEE me skiing for as long as we did last week, and coupled with the fact that Soldeu ticks every satisfaction box for me, from value to food to Apres ski I PROMISE TO GO BACK. :D |
