Don't know how fast I was going on this run but according to Ski Tracks my fastest run on this red was 102,5 km/h

Was in Obergurgl for the first time two weeks ago, fantastic place, great pistes and now queues at all.

Would like to find other places like that in Austria so all tips are welcome.

So have you been there yet?
Far Queue wrote:Hi Mackar, a question please. Lech has just hit the top of our list for destinations next Feb, but generally the Hotels are running about £200 dearer than if we went to St Anton. What was it you thought was that much better on the Lech side please?

Also, how long is the transfer and are they pretty regular? Many thanks.
Hi

I did find Lech a lot more nice, St Anton is great if you want a lot of party and if you are into off piste but the pistes were a lot better in Lech and thy were not as crowded ( a lot of great off piste here to). If you ski to Stuben then the bus takes about 15 minutes and there is one every 20th minute. We took the Post bus back to St. Anton and there is one every hour.

The snow was great, I think it was the 7th of March. And no it wasn't to difficult, this was my first real deep snow experience.

Sorry no map, I'm not sure where the skiing was, we traveled 15 min with car from Whistler but I have no idea about where the heli went.

In what way, Mackar?
I got the same result from the calculator as my ski shop has set mine bindings to after checking my weight and asking me how I ski.
The calculator worked quite well for me
Dave Mac wrote:I'm surprised, VSB, that the shop would ask you for your DIN setting. The process is they enter your height, weight, age, and ability into the computer, and it gives the DN setting. That is the point I ask them, and I accept 7.0 to 7.5.

Like you,I once deliberately set a low DIN setting, thinking a) I never fall, b) I therefore would be protecting my knee. Then I jumped onto a steep off piste, and, errm, walked out of my ski. The skibrakes didn't work in powder, and I followed the track hip-hoppy for half a kilometer, eventually finding about three inches of tail sticking out of the snow.
Doh!
I checked now my own skis and they are set to 9,5. I also bought a pair of skis just like the I rented with the shop set those to 9.5 too after getting my weight och checking how I ride so I'm not surprised that the rentals released when i was skiing.
