J2Ski Holiday 2014
Started by User in Find a Ski Buddy / Group Trips, 760 Replies
A couple of people have recently asked about the 2014 J2Ski group ski/snowboard holiday, so I thought I'd post this back up.

Does anyone else want to go on the list of those potentially interested in coming with us?

I need to get back to work on reducing the size of the resort list to a manageable shortlist of resorts and then pick a date.

This is a quick summary of the situation at the moment:

Ian W - wants January or maybe March
Nelly - can't do January but OK for Feb and March
Me - I'm not too sure whether I can manage March or not
Snapzzz - prefers last week in Jan or early Feb but could probably manage Jan, Feb or March (as long as we hurry up and organize it before he books his family holidays)
Icy - wants March
Tony H - Thinks it's too early to consider 2014
Old Andy - said he'd love to come if he could manage it
Bandit - possibly might be considering it - I don't really know
Dids - would like to come 'one day'
Old Boarder - wants Feb or March
Felthorpe - doesn't seem to mind which month
Daved - wants last 2 weeks of Jan or 1st week of Feb
Far Queue - wants January or March
Bedrock Barney + 1 - wants late Feb or early March
Tonypants - not March
Joe Colin - wants January or February
Brooksy - doesn't want school holidays and prefers the cheaper holiday dates if possible
Randyrat - has a group of 4 people, and prefers the last week in January and somewhere not too expensive.
Catp - is interested in coming and hasn't got any preferences for the date
Billip 1 - is fairly flexible on dates

Have I left anyone out, or accidentally included anyone I shouldn't have?

If anyone else is interested in coming with us in 2014 would they please let me know - either by posting on here or by sending me a pm :D

Here are the places we are considering for 2014:

Zermatt
Sella Ronda (Gardena etc. in the Dolomites)
Les Portes du Soleil (Morzine)
St Anton
Alpe d'Huez
Milky Way (Sauze d'Ouix)
Paradiski (La Plagne and Les Arcs etc.)
La Clusaz
Les Deux Alpes
Grand Massif (Samoens)
Andyhull - chalet The Lodge in Val d'Isere with Skiworld (around £700-£750 all inclusive except ski hire, January prices)
3 Valleys
Cervinia
Les Arcs etc

ALi - when are you planning the 2014 trip? If its January I can't come, unless I get a new job

Hi Nelly,
We haven't actually picked a date yet for the 2014 trip. What we have done is collected a list of resorts that people would like to go to and researched suitable chalets for those resorts, and we are currently taking expressions of interest for this holiday (which reminds me - I should get that thread going again in case anyone else wants to go on the list).

I would quite like to go Les Arcs myself, but stay in one of the older villages.

Thanks Snowcrazy :D

50 euros would be quite cheap if shared between, say, 3 people.

If I'm on the direct Eurostar on Saturday I'd be getting there about 7 p.m. I think. But going back I might be either going for the morning train or the late evening one (for the all night direct train).

Hi Snapzzz,
That's awful! And how stupid, to stop you selling systems because they haven't got enough set top boxes

As Old Andy says, I hope they get this situation sorted rapidly and service (and your wages) return to normal.

At least you have one ski holiday already paid for :D
Dotted line on piste maps - off piste?

I googled this, and found 2 articles that said the itinerary routes from Lech to Zug aren't patrolled, and one of them said you should check you are covered by your insurance policy. It does seem to be very confusing

And then I also found this article in the Telegraph, which is really about avalanches in Lech, but mentions that the itinerary route they are talking about (in the article) isn't patrolled and counts as off-piste.

Snapzzz, that's a very simple problem to solve. Sew a bobble on it and buy some new matching gear
OK Snapzzz, we will get going again on planning the 2014 J2Ski Group holiday :D
