Now I know where I've been going wrong all these years - I never learned the term "super malleable" )

Spot on Andy the old programme was stale, But what`s with the celeb thing ? Jody Kidd heli skiing who the hell wants to watch her. The BBC could spend their budget on something more constructive IMO.

AJ Adele

Couldn't agree more :D
What is needed is a decent magazine programe about skiing/boarding - watching Dinger scare himself to death while hanging off a cable on a mountain peak doesn't interest me at all.

To be honest I don't know, but I would have thought in this day and age that they would have been closed down if it wasn't legit :D

You can buy tibia pads and place them next to the skin under the sock. It can work for some problems but you don't want to mask a more serious problem of course.

Do a google search for 'Shin Shields' (brand name) if you decide to go this route - they are the best I've seen.

Ise you`ve just jogged my memory,I know the Tilts reminded me of some boots i saw years ago.Raichle flexon are the one`s, I thought they were weird looking back then when every one else was wearing Lange.

I skied in Flexon Comps for years. They were perfect for me. I was devastated when I couldn't get them any more. I wore my last pair until the toe was worn to an edge. Haven't tried the Full Tilts but I'm tempted :D

Excellent post, 82ross
As you say, after a short time many of these things become obvious but they are not when you are starting out.

Not always a 'newbie' mistake :D I have seen a number of intermediates who ask me why their boots hurt at the shin. I get them to put them on and do them up and its often that the tongue isnt seated right.

Loosen the clips on your boots when walking. Most people find it easier and more comfortable. It will also help when trying to negotiate stairs etc.

Loosen but don't undo completely would be my advice. I see some people walking in boots with all the buckles undone. As you walk your feet come half out of the boot and slide back in with each step - a quick way to get blisters and really tired feet.
Late Skiing?

I was in Verbier the first week in April last year and I thought the snow was pretty good. Sure it was slushy at the bottom but I think that will be the same everywhere in April. Up top the snow was great.
I should be in Tignes this April and I'll be happy if the conditions are as good.

I think the only way to avoid slush in April is to just ski the upper runs and get a lift back down at the end of the day - easier in some resorts than others. :D

Carving seems to be a bitterly contested technique on here. Very interesting. I wonder if it has anything to do with the differences among nationalities? ;)

:D Whatever gave you that impression :D
I think its more a case of one or two people have very strong opinions about carving being a seperate discipline rather than a way of turning - makes life interesting )

Bode Miller is one of the greatest skiers of all time...

Definitely 'one of' , as to 'the best' well ... eye of the beholder and all that.

Brilliant photo, by the way :D
