Is this likely to have a significant impact on ski package holidays? I think they operated a lot of the ski charters. Will the Tour operators be able to replace them in time?
Coming on top of the wonderful planning by Ryanair, it could be a difficult winter for ski travellers . |

Haven't driven up to Bormio but have gone from Bergamo up to the Val di Fassa.
Most of the journey is on motorway and low down so no issues there, though it can be very busy but tends to keep moving. Probably some tolls but not too expensive. Once you get up into the mountains, it can get interesting if there is fresh snow. I would definitely try to get a car with winter tyres (not always easy in Bergamo but so worth it). Chains are, in my view, a necessity as well though it is unlikely that you will need to use them. However, if the snow is bad and you don't have them, then you will be in big trouble. |

Will these airports be able to cope with the extra travelers? Chambery is already very overcrowded every Saturday in ski season.

Its been a long time since I was there but I really enjoyed it. It would be a pity if you couldn't get to the linked resorts and I suspect that you will be. Obviously, this is a call that you can make when you get there once you know what snow conditions are like.
Not completely sure of the details but I seem to recall that one of the features of the area is that it littered with large boulders and so requires deep snow to give good cover. I don't think this is an issue for the piste but you might would probably need to be careful off-piste. As always a guide is highly recommended. One negative from my last visit there - we stayed in the Totem in the main village. One day, we went back to the hotel for lunch and left our skis outside. Unfortunately, about 3 pairs were stolen that day . We were next to a road so it may have an opportunist in a van passing by but still - be careful when in the village! |

Sorry Swingbeep - as an Irish resident, Brexit does not change this issue for me! In any event, given the uncertainty around Brexit, it could be many years before the Customs Union aspect is resolved. |

Just thought I'd give this one a bump to see if anybody knows of any developments in relation to the rules around this? Flying into Munich for main trip but might be considering Zurich for a long weekend over the coming season and would like to know if there is any greater clarity on this issue?

The skiing was rubbish the last time I was there . A bit more mundane for me. Just booked Selva in the Dolomites for mid-term. Getting excited already . Might have a look at a long weekend as well. |

St Martine de Belleville is a small, traditional village that connects into the 3V area. Meribel, Mottaret, Les Menuires, Courcheval and Val Thoren are large heavily developed villages, with lots of large apartment blocks/hotels. However, they do offer good access onto the slopes.
