A New T Bar Installed
Started by User in Ski News, 17 Replies
Thanks Andy :D

In fact, Tignes is the place where I nearly fell off the last T-bar. My daughter and I were trying to go up one on the glacier, and squabbling terribly about who was going which side, and we both nearly fell off! She said it was my fault, and naturally I said it was her fault

We managed it OK the next few times, but it was extremely embarassing especially as we were in the middle of a private lesson and I could see the instructor thought it was really funny!

I usually fall off/nearly fall off T-bars so I'm not very fond of them either. I find them very embarassing to use
Hi Apbtoski, thanks for that :D

It sounds like you had a really great time.

If anyone else wants to come with us, would you please send me a pm or post up on here.

Here are some rough costings for this holiday. The cost varies according to things like which flights you take, and which grade of skis you hire (noir with Intersport is the most expensive grade) and which shop you get them from.

Basic cost of the catered chalet Bonjour Bonjour = £399
Return flights from the U.K. to Geneva = £100
Return chalet transfers to and from Geneva = £60
Total = £559

Extras
Carriage of winter sports equipment with EasyJet = £50
Adult 6 day Tignes and Val d'Isere lift pass = 235 euros
6 afternoons ESF adult group lessons = 145 euros
6 days Intersport 'noir' ski and boot hire = 113 euros

Edit
Correction - 'noir' skis and boots can be hired with Intersport for 102 euros.

The photos below, of the slopes and the chalet, expand if you click on them.

I guess I am getting excited now Andy

Thanks Bedrock Barney. I am very fond of ski-ing :D
Here are some Tignes live webcams. As Nelly said (on another thread) there is snow on the Grande Motte glacier now.

But looking at the webcam for Les Brevieres, about the only things I can recognize are the church tower and the dam wall. It's amazing how different things look when everything is all green!

Thanks Daved :D
I checked the internet prices (after the maximum discount I could get) in the Tignes shops for Skimium, Intersport and SkiSet, for what I hope is the same (high) quality of ski (difficult to tell) with boots.

Skimium = 110 euros for 'premium' skis
Intersport = 113 euros for 'noir'
Skiset = 142 euros for 'performance'
Good morning Ade :D

Yes, the chalet has free Wi-Fi. This is what Bonjour say about this chalet:

Quality recently-built Alpine style ski chalet
15 bedrooms, all en-suite, sleeps 39
3 minutes easy walk from piste, lifts and ski school
Hot tub on terrace *
Free Places for groups of 9 or more
Free Wi-Fi
UK TV in all bedrooms
Free ski hosting

And:

Each bedroom has a flat-screen UK TV. Most of the rooms are within range of our free Wi-Fi network for those who bring their own laptops, iPhones or handhelds. There is also a desk in the hallway with a computer connected to the Internet for free use by our guests. Mobile reception throughout the chalet is mainly good.

Any more questions?

Snapzzz,
I'm sure the parents will supply extra money for the girl's food, and if they've got any sense they'll give it to you, rather than her, to look after.

I suggest you carefully add up how much she will cost you for the week and then discuss it with her parents. They may not realize how expensive a ski holiday is.

Good luck :D
