Thanks Andy :D

It sounds like a fun kind of thing to try and do, if the weather and snow conditions are good. And if we get held up a bit in the morning with sorting skis out etc. we can always cut the program slightly - like miss out researching the Panoramic restaurant by the Grande Motte glacier, because I've been up there lots of times.

I think the crucial timing in your itinerary is getting back from La Folie Douce (which is in the Val d'Isere ski area) to Val Claret (which is the Tignes ski area).

Presumably you're planning to do this via the Tommeuses chair lift. Last year that lift shut at 16-30 during January. So as long as we get there before it shuts at least we will be back in Tignes and able to get the free ski bus back to Les Boisses. (There are no free ski buses between Val d'Isere and Tignes).

But the next crucial bit of timing will be getting to Les Boisses in time to ski down to Les Brevieres before it gets dark. According to the website below, sunset in Tignes on Sunday 13th January will be at 17-12, and then it's about a minute later each day. I wonder how 'dark' it is when it's officially sunset?

Edit
I will have a look tonight, and see how dark it is at official sunset time, and see whether I reckon I could still ski :D

Your list is wrong as I doubt I will sleep on the train.

So it is only 72 sleeps
WoopWoop

Andy the list only applies to mortals -)

Brooksy - do you reckon Andy is immortal then? That would come in very handy on a ski holiday

Andy - sorry the Excel sheet only counts actual days - unfortunately it doesn't know whether you will sleep on the train or not

Nelly - I am getting excited as well! It's great to see the number of days/sleeps decreasing each day :D

Maybe if the pistes were graded more accurately, and signposted more carefully, and the piste maps were easier to follow, none of us would need ski hosts/guides anyway

I suppose it will depend on the weather, and what Andy and Catp say, but I fancy having lunch on the first Sunday in les Clochetons, in Val d'Isere, on the blue Santons piste.

Just plan to follow you Ally.....

Mind you I have started a little exercise in getting through all you restaurant stops on the Sunday before others arrive from the airport. Presently playing with a couple of options on routes to squeek the time down.
Should be possible, may need the bus back from Val Claret to Les Boisses tho'.
You happy to ski Face?
Bring your head torch with you for the last bit please.

Andy,
I think the Face is the one I called Olympic in my report after my 3 day trip to Tignes at the end of April. Most of it was fine, but the last bit was all mogulled up with tapioca

I should think if I could ski down it like that (although admittedly I did fall over several times) I should think I will be OK to ski down it in January :D

I was thinking the bus would be a good idea as well, on the way back. But when I was there I noticed that there were 2 separate looped circuits running - Les Boisses to Le Lac, and Val Claret to Le Lac. So, if it's the same as that in January we'd have to get 2 buses and then ski down the last bit into Les Brevieres.

Best of luck with sorting out a route for us :D

Thanks Far Queue :D

What a lovely photo! It shows how you have to really go for it, down the schuss bit after the half-pipe, to get to the restaurant without having to 'skate' or walk.

Thus a long walk /push /pole back to the lifts after lunch?

Dunno for sure, Santons is a no no for me

You're quite right Andy - but you needn't have told the others

I was hoping we'd all work off the lunch calories, getting back to the lifts

re-check my post Ally - dont want to get in your bad books before I see you on the 20th Jan....

Don't worry about it Andy - I expect everyone's read your original post already

I posted up something 'unfortunate' once, and regretted it about 30 seconds later, and it was amazing the number of people who'd managed to read it before I'd deleted it

If they don't fancy going there for lunch, there are plenty of other restaurants :D

But I take it you don't want to meet up there for hot chocolate on the 20th?

There's a perfectly simple solution to this - I'll just qualify as a ski instructor. I mean, I've got 73 days before the holiday - that's plenty of time - nothing to it

And maybe I'd better delete that photo of me, on our group holiday thread, in case we have to move to plan b

Mind you, plan c sounds pretty good too - as long as I get a share of the money and I finally get out of prison! I think my holiday insurance covers legal fees :D
