I bought my area (Espace Killy) 8 day lift pass and Carre Neige insurance today, together with the Tignes loyalty card called 'Pass Tignes' for this group holiday to Tignes Les Brevieres.

I was going to buy my lift pass and Carre Neige insurance through Bonjour, the owners of the chalet, as I think most of the group are going to do. Bonjour have said that if we do this they will have the lift passes waiting for us in the chalet.

However, once I had booked my second 8 day ski holiday in Tignes it occurred to me that it might be a good idea to buy the loyalty card. It costs 10 euros and lasts 3 years and gives a 5% discount on lift passes for adults, and a 10% discount for children and teenagers. But Bonjour couldn't buy me this pass so I decided to buy it myself on the internet.

It will save me a total of 18 euros on my two ski holidays this year.

The loyalty and lift passes can be bought here:
http://skipass-tignes.com/

You need a photo for the loyalty pass so the website very cleverly asks you to find one on your computer and add it to your application.

The total bill for the 8 day lift pass etc. was rather scarily large

Reduced price 8 day Espace Killy adult lift pass = 262.5 euros
Loyalty Pass Tignes = 10 euros
8 days Carre Neige insurance = 22.4 euros
Grand total = 294.90 euros (about £245)

They will post the lift pass out to me here at home.

They e-mailed me a receipt for my order, and it says to bring the receipt with me in case I need to be rescued etc.
It also says that I am entitled to a free day in the 3 Valleys or the Paradiski ski areas, and I can obtain this by taking my ski pass and this receipt to a ticket office in one of these resorts. However, I should imagine that this 'free' day uses one of my Espace Killy days on the pass, although I'm not sure about this.

And if anyone else wants to join us would they please let me know as apparently there are still 3 rooms unbooked for this week, out of the 15 in the chalet. The total price for the holiday will vary according to how you get there, but it will be somewhere in the region of £850 for the catered chalet, flights, transfers, ski hire, and 6 days area lift pass.

Here is the link to the details on the chalet we're staying in:

Igluski has the catered chalet Chamois in Courchevel 1850 for only £525 per person, for a couple, for December 22nd to 29th. Flights Gatwick to Grenoble, transfers included. Don't know why it's so cheap. Most of the catered chalets are upwards of £900 per person in 1850. Maybe I've made a mistake?

Holiday id is 59009566

I don't want to disappoint anyone, but OldAndy may not be able to keep up with me - I'm pretty fast when I'm hurtling down a black piste on my back - last time I did that my ESF instructor was left miles behind

Straight-line it and report back...

How do you straight-line it through a mogul field :?: :?:

I've never seen anyone do that

But if it's sheet ice and no moguls all the way down I'll be able to do it no problem ...

because I will probably fall over at the start and travel all the way down flat on my back with my legs and arms safely stuck in the air in case I damage them :)

And if Andy videos it then there will be both visual, audio (me screaming!) and written (if I haven't broken both my arms) reports on the newly configured Face run

OK Ally, confirmed. I am booked for La Plagne on the 2 Feb, and now not going to Lech for the moment. Will be in Plagne Centre.

FQ, I'm not sure that is permitted. Once you are on the list, you must complete the holiday as indicated. Did you not read the small print?

:D

Pregnancies negate all rules, so I have been told -) I still think they should have been a bit more thoughtful though!

FQ - they obviously hadn't been to the ski planning clinic

OK I will change your entry - but there will be a forfeit for this because I can't have everyone changing their minds all the time - I mean my nice organized list would be ruined if this became an epidemic

Andy, hang on a minute here - I'm not sure I have all the facts concerning this matter ...

Admin - what exactly do you want Andy and me to do?

The Face is the run that was like tapioca when I skied down it at the end of April - and as far as I remember there was a nasty narrow road-like bit between the easy part at the start and the difficult mogul section towards the bottom.
If they've just widened the very narrow bit I think it would actually help, and make it more fun to ski.

If you just want a report on it then that's fine with me - but if you're expecting more (like me to ski down it without falling over on the moguls) then I'm very sorry to have to tell you that it simply won't happen, even though I will naturally try my best

Moguls are definitely not my strong point - remember I broke my big toe trying to learn how to ski them in an ESF lesson.
