Dave,
Like your water colour which looks similar in some aspects to my photograph. Perhaps you could use the photograph for inspiration. The chapel sits high above the Oeztal valley on the approach to Kuhtai. Should you wish to visit the area this coming season. :D |

Now thats what I call contrast!
Dave, Thanks for the information in relation to the mountain chapel, they are indeed tiny. It figures, we had also seen mountain memorials with flowers and pictures during our trip. We did not see any vandalism whatsoever during our trip bearing in mind we also visited Innsbruck and Salzburg. Lovely country Austria. :D Tony, sorry you did'nt like them. I suspect the lack of snow did not help! However, it was nice to get a flavour of the Country out of the winter season and we look forward to returning in January 2012. 8) |

Try the Interhome site - When I last looked there was a nice self catering appartment in Solden for a good price. Good luck :D

Obergurgl from the lift, not what you want to see in January!
Obergurgl Village Scene
St Anton in the sun
Stuben
Zug and its one chair up the hill
The Austrian Countryside
Congestion on the roads in Kuhtai
Kuhtai – Sunday morning following the snow
Immaculate buildings in Oetz
Anybody know the history around these small church like buildings scattered around Austria. These are about the size of a garden shed and if you look to the top right hand side of the picture you will see the roof of the house that stands alongside. |

Dave, Should of posted the picture with the data, will post later, together with some photos of the rest of the week under the Austria thread. The weather was freak, Saturday afternoon between approx 2-4pm. The weather returned to normal summer conditions after this. This will become clear following my further posts 8) |

Further to my last post - snow in Kuhtai 27th August 2011
 |

Answer - Yes, Just back from our week in Austria. We toured the Tirol and Arlberg with our base being in Kuhtai. It was snowing in Kuhtai when we arrived on Saturday 27th August with 3 inches at 2000m. Obergurgl Solden and Hochgurgl had the same. This was a first for me "snowing in August" :D

Pav,
You have hit the nail on he head again! My OH is a bit timid and slow and this can cause mega frustrations with myself and my two sons that like a blast now and again however, in order to keep the peace we take it in turns to pair up. That means there is always someone skiing with the OH slowly and the other two can open it up. This compromise keeps everyone happy. :D |
