Personally, I'd try and step up to a better level of ski as soon as you can, as you will get better quality equipment and newer ranges normally.
Its more important to get a ski thats right for you, in terms of length, weight, cut/shape (ie carving ski, all mountain, off piste, etc) and speed to be honest.

This is an interesting question and something I have wondered myself. Acknowledging all of the posts stating that it depends what skiing you're doing, ability etc. are there any problems (e.g. lack of control, going too fast) which means the basic skis are better for you until you improve?
Or is it just that, generally, paying for better skis is a waste of time if you're still doing the basics?

Does that make sense........?

carled wrote:http://www.economycarhire.com/ Were the cheapest for me by miles. AND they include all the little annoying extras at very cheap prices (CDW, etc...) and you can waive excess for a quid a day.

AND if you google economycarhire and vouchers... you'll find a 10% off code easy to find. Valid 'til end of March. I believe.

Weird - I've just checked economycarhire prices and they seem twice the price of holidayautos?! Am I doing something wrong?

A biblical figure - he doubted that Christ had been resurrected. Was known to enjoy skiing. Nationality was never confirmed, but strongly rumoured to be Austrian. (Genesis Chapter 12, verse 3).

What is the standard of Crystal catered chalets? I'll be looking for something in March but want to fly local (Newcastle) as I'm sick of travelling, so might have to go with someone like that. Anyone had any experiences?

Chains will be extra cost.
You can go across the boarder to any EU country without any problems at all.

Where are you heading?

Just to echo the above you'll have no problems going into other EU countries. The only restriction I know of us is hiring in Switzerland where my hire was restricted to travel in the EU for up to 8 days (don't think this is the law however, I suspect just that company policy).

The car may or may not come with snow tyres, but is unlikely to have snow chains - the only way to be sure is to ask for them for which you'll be charged.

I find holidayautos to be the cheapest usually - try this link http://www.holidayautos.co.uk/cgi-bin/liveweb.sh/QSearch.w?ctryref=GBR&lang=EN&aff=xOneAccount
