That's why they shut the pistes after a very heavy fall of snow sometimes. And then you can hear them blasting the snow, and sometimes the actual crash as the artificially created avalanche happens. But very occasionally there is an avalanche on piste - presumably because someone made a mistake somewhere, or maybe because there is always an element of uncertainty about these things. |

Brooksy - can't you just edit it to say something like 'I hope you have a lovely holiday' and then Andy and I can do the same (or similar - exactly the same would look a little odd!).
I have done daft things like posted in the wrong thread, double posted, tried to post photos about 10 times etc. etc. In fact, I reckon I've done just about every dumb thing possible on J2Ski :D |

So does this mean we shouldn't even be ski-ing between pistes without shovel, probe, and transceiver and doing the rest of the avalanche research?
The only thing I have is Recco on my ski boots, and I remember someone saying on here that it's only useful really for finding dead bodies! |

It's OK everyone, panic over, I'm not really going to sit in a mountain restaurant all day (unless there's a blizzard going on or something), that's what the wink was for  |

We might find the first one we get to is so nice that we decide to stay in it for the rest of the day  |

Oh - a Challenge  I wonder if I've got time to nip back to the Hemel Hempstead snow dome for some more coaching before the group holiday starts :?: Just remember I will have to ski much more slowly than usual because I will have Old Andy with me   |

Do you want me to put minus figures on the list now :?:  |

Done it - both on the Excel sheet and on the list on the previous page on here :) And very glad to hear your salopettes still fit ;) |
