We salute your dedication!

Hope the damage is not too bad - no need to demonstrate rock-dodging in future though...

Welcome Crabby! What Andy said - a couple of hours private instruction as soon as you get on the snow, to address your specific requirements, should get you over your initial confidence hurdle. Group lessons can then bring you on in the company of others at the same level.

Do as much fitness improvement as you can before you go, including lots of stretches and balance exercises - just a few minutes a day can make a big difference. Also take time to warm up your muscles before you ski each day (most of us forget to do this); less chance of sprains and pulls, and you'll ski better too...

But most of all - have fun! 8)
BUMP - We've still got some free tickets going... see competition above!
Hi, and welcome...

There are mixed groups of J2Skiers going to be in Kaprun and La Thuile over the next couple of weeks; not sure if they still have any spaces but I'm sure they'll chime in if they do.

If you've not spotted it, a few folk are also making their plans public on the Who's Going Where List.

Destination suggestions depend a little on how much socialising you want to do? It's low season so you shouldn't have any difficulty finding accommodation. Catered chalets are good options if you want company, and there are some good deals around.

Snow's falling in much of The Alps at the moment - and for the next few days - so I'd suggest not going anywhere too high (high enough to have snow, obviously!) just yet as next week looks like it's going to be seriously cold at times.
Thanks to The Warren Miller Ski Film Tour, we're pleased to be able to bring you a competition to win tickets AND a discount code to save you 10% off tickets to selected screenings (see below).

COMPETITION

We have 3 pairs of tickets to give away (to any venue EXCEPT Washington and Penrith). Awesome!

We realise time is short on this one, so here we go... to win a pair of tickets...

Send me (Admin) a Private Message telling me how many years the Warren Miller Film Tour has been going. First three (correct!) PMs will each win a pair of tickets.

Remember to include your full name and the venue and date you'd like!

Sensible rules apply; one entry per consenting adult and household, wrong answers will be ridiculed and bribes not accepted (unless they're really rather good, in which case crack on but don't be surprised to not get a ticket anyway). 8)

DISCOUNT CODE

Visit www.warrenmiller.co.uk and enter promo code "SKIFILM10" to redeem the discount.

[*excludes showings in Washington and Penrith]
They're claiming upper base depths of nearly 2 metres and "soft" snow so I'd expect the piste conditions to be pretty good. Should be quiet next week and, with a bit of luck, you might just see some of next week's snowfall getting upgraded as the storm tracks become clearer.
andyandy wrote:Any weather news from Serre Chevalier?

No real change as yet Andy, but a succession of light snowfalls now in the forecast for next week.

Worth watching the forecast and webcams over the next few days though; the current snow is pushing into The Alps from the North and how far South the bulk of it will get isn't yet clear. Similarly, support is building (in the forecast models) for a big snowfall Tuesday and Wednesday next week and - again - that might go as far as Serre Che.

Yep, J2Skier Undermanager is just back and just posted this report - Borovets

He also kindly posted some photos last month, see various topics in Snow Reports from Ski Resorts

It's not all great, but forewarned is forearmed and the snow is definitely good! 8)
