I await with interest the feedback on the boots when they arrive - primarily the reaction of Snapzzz Minor.
:D

But ....

As a linked but separate issue - everything you talk about purchasing seems to be for your good self or Little Snapzzz ????

Where is Mrs Snapzzz in all this???

Hope you are not forgetting her as without her goodwill the posibility of one, let alone several, ski holidays will diminish or evaporate.

Top Tip - look after OH to facilitate skiing trips.

Mrs snapzzz already has her own boots and is well looked after in other areas so there is no need to worry there.

The sad news is that the shop refunded me this morning, the boots are now out of stock! Gutted. It was a cracking buy.

I hope they are sick.
Im not a huge cake fan but Mrs Snapzzz would love that place.
All i can say on this is that i find TNF stuff to be on the large side.

Why don't you give them a ring and ask very nicely if they can take a pair in the size you want out of the box and measure them to see if they are true to size?

It doesn't guarantee you won't have to return them for a bigger/smaller size but it gives you more of a fightng chance of getting it right first time!

Good luck

Well, i did think of that but as they only have 23 in stock its pretty pointless.
If they are WAY to big i will probably put them on ebay as they are going for 60-70 pounds on there. It just seem such a good buy it was worth taking a punt.

On a separate note i have just drawn around my foot and i measure 27.5cm and my boots are 28.5 and they are snug as a bug. When i look at Heads sizing charts they make 27.5 a UK 8.5 which is NUTS. I can't get my plates into anything smaller than a 10.
jastem wrote:Ok, I won't bother with the Mrs Sensible-old-enough-to-be-your-Mother speech, so could you get them in my size please (37) just in case you need to sell them on.......

Sure thing.....will do. -)

I can remember my children having growing spurts, particularly over the summer holidays it seemed and their feet could grow by not just one, but several sizes in one go!

Sales are on.
verbier_ski_bum wrote:You shoudn't be buying ski boots that are one size (at least) too big. If her feet measure 22 cm the odds are that even size 22 might be too big. Important measument is the boot's sole length, which should be indicated on a side of a boot. Unfortunately this measurement is rarely provided by online retailers but sometimes you may find it on manufacturers' websites. If you think your daughters feet are likely to grow I think it will be better to continue renting - it will be definitely better than skiing in boots that are too big. And if you want to keep this boots for her to use later there is also a possibility that by the time her feet grow a size she will need a proper adult boots.

I appreciate what you are saying but i am confident in my decision. But as i said i don't really want to debate the whole boot fitting thing.

Her feet are growing i expect her feet to grow a little by next season (not much though) and i think a little tweaking will be fine.
She is 11, she skis twice a year for fun and as long as she is comfy then she is happy.

Let me take you through her previous rental fitting processes:

Assistant: "Hello young lady.....you want nice pinky boots?"
Megan: <rolls eyes> "Sure"
Assistant: "Try these, these are a uk 2.5"
Megan "ok"
Assistant: "They good?"
Megan "feel fine"
Assistant " Have a nice day"

I know i can deliver her a better experience than that!!!!

My feet are dodgy and i know the need for a decent boot fitter, my wife on the other hand took a pair off the shelf from a sports superstore and she loves them.
If megan has problems then i will sell them on. For £50 i am happy to experiment.

Trencher wrote:Don't use shoe size period for ski boots.

Measure her feet in CM. To do this, have her stand on a piece of paper/cardboard with her heels against a wall. Draw a line around her her toes. You can then measure her foot easily on the paper.

This is the best guide, but it is only a guide. Ski boots mondo sizes are pretty nominal, and can vary by several MM from model to model/year to year, even from the same manufacturer.

To complicate matters further, ski boots mondo sizing normally runs large by at least one CM.

But there is some good news, As you only ski a few weeks a year, the boots will take a long time to pack in and this will allow for some growth.

I know from my wife and daughter, US W7.5 is a comfortable fit in Salomon 23 shells.

The only way to know for sure is to do a shell test and have her stand in the boots with the liner removed and toes touching the front of the boot. If she still has some growth left in her feet, I'd look for a strong 25mm behind the heel.

Thanks for that Trencher. I was already aware that buying boots based on shoe size was not the best idea but i was trying to get an explanation as to why different sites gave different measurements.

I have already measured her feet and she is bang on 22cm so i plan to buy 23.0 as she is still very much growing.
She is small in stature compared to her peers and i exact her to stay that way so i think i will get two years from the boots. And at £54 I'm sure i am doing the right thing.

Thanks guys
