Snowbandit,
I was walking very carefully outside on our concrete 'skating rink' and I fell crash - flat on my back. I don't think I've ever seen it this bad before. I nearly failed to get back in our door - my husband was going to look for a piece of rope to tow me back in  And I've got to get 3 houses ready for Christmas and the New Year - ours plus the two holiday cottages.
Luckily I don't seem to have broken anything :D

My road is still totally white and fairly smooth but its icy underneath. The pavements into the village are horrible and icy, very dangerous, but the main roads are clear now.
Its still pretty with snow hanging from the trees and bushes, especially with the sun out. It has not risen above freezing yet though, which is why I guess the snow has not gone anywhere.
No more snow looking likely before Xmas now.

We have the same problem were I live.
A notice from the Management company read: -
The local council are unable to grit the roads and pavements due to it being private land.
The management company will not grit the roads or pavements as we will be liable for any accidents.
I thought thats what insurance was for?

I thought the grit was to stop the accidents?

Yes it is but removing ice from pavements and gritting does not 100% clear the problem and can sometimes make it worse.

I live in Wellingborough, Northants and the Council has made no effort whatsoever to grit/clear the side-roads or their pavements, which are now like skating rinks!

It's so beautiful here and I really want it to stay that way for my sister's wedding tomorrow. The hotel is in stunning grounds with massive cedar trees, I can't wait to turn into the grounds in the car.
Fingers crossed the rain forecast for tomorrow doesn't come.
I'm slightly concerned about the country roads I'm just about to drive round to go and pick her up I've gotta say
