Is Bulgaria that bad? I got a cheapy and thought it was worth a go. Was in Val'd'iser, or however you spell it! (France), last year, and that it a quality place, apart from the price of everywhere that it!!!! So couldn't afford to go back, so thought i would give bulgaria a try as i have heard its a good place and cheap. the royal towers look really nice as well

I have not been ....... but I have heard too many horror stories to risk the trip, there are much cheaper places to ski than Val.

I went to Bansko a couple of years ago. We go on a group trip and I can't decide our destination.

Bulgaria would never be my first choice of holiday. However I found Bansko much better than Borovets. The skiing was fine for us but not somewhere we'll be rushing back to.

If you do go I recommend you insist that your skis are set to your weight and height properly. They don't seem to care very much about things like that and that did worry me a little.

If you're up near the Gondola you're in the best position for nightlife too.

Bulgaria is the worst place I've been but it is a case of you get what you pay for. As a cheaper option I think it gets more stick than it deserves. I've only been once to Borovets and once to Bansko though, so I'm not an expert.

The information provided on this site should be impartial & based on fact, no one who has replied to this thread have stayed at the BRT. Until you get someone replying to this thread who can offer fact based advice I would suggest you ignore nightmarish comments. If you trust & have used Trip advisor before then that might be a place to start.
I am not trying to piss anyone off here but conjecture & rumour are ust that.

I haven't been skiing to Bulgaria for a reason, and it is not somewhere I would ever consider going either. That's all I am saying.

Although like I have perviously stated I have not visited Bulgaria winter or summer, but the worst hotel I have stayed in was in La Molina in Spain, dirty room, food that looked like cat litter and they even stole a pair of shoes which I left in a bag at the bar, I will not name the hotel as it has had a refurbishment since and hopefully it has improved, we eat out every night but there were some people their who were on a budget who had to eat the food ,,,,,, but surprisingly the British bull dog sprit shone through and we had a fantastic time, and met some great people the year was I think 1991.
