If your going really cold look on Canadian sites as they use boots for -40degrees. They are like very fat wellingtons. In those conditions with normal hiking boots frostbite can happen within half an hour.

Those should be good Snowb4ndit. They'll be quite versatile having laces. For just going to work, shopping etc, you can leave the laces loose, so they slip on and off easily. For more serious walking, you can tighten the laces. It's nice to have slip on shoes at work to make the change over easy, and stop your feet overheating in the warm. Those boots have felt liners which work best when dry. If you spend a lot of time in them, it's sometimes worth having a spare pair of liners. At least pull the liners out at night if you spent a lot of time in them that day. There are lower cost aftermarket liners which work as well as the original.
