In theory you are supposed to stick them to the screen (so you can't re-use them) but many don't & then sell them on ebay.
I think I paid £7 for my last one & got the same back!

Which is a criminal act in Switzerland and the fine will far outweigh the cost of buying a Vignette. Then they will make you buy a Vignette as well. Of course you could always refuse, but they do have the guns to help you come to the right decision.
Bardonnex is rumoured to have installed traffic cameras which can ID foreign number plates.
Last time I purchased a Vignette, the Border Guard stuck it on my windscreen in a really bad place, before I could stop him
Edit: It's supposed to be possible to remove the Vignette once it's been stuck on. I'm sure I remember ise telling me that his car dealer had a way. I did try this one year by preparing the windscreen with something slippy ) ....but come removal time it was as difficult and messy as usual.

When I sold the old Range Rover, it was complete with vignette. I am convinced the buyer paid a premium for this.

Is it all actually true? Like, for example, it says that if you need glasses for driving you have to have a spare pair with you in the car, and you have to drive with your lights on in the day.
And, I think that motorway pass, or vignette, only cost £27 annually so what's all the fuss about?

The vignette is the same price if you use it for 5 mins or 365 days. It is stuck on the windscreen of whatever vehicle you happen to be in when you need to use a Swiss motorway.

The Swiss Gov't have estimated that within the country there are 9 guns for every Swiss citizen, including babies. After Switzerland implemented Schengen, there are now increased Border Guard patrols within Switzerland, on trains and roads.

Yep, tell me about them. They are the rudest border control persons I have ever come across.
