I went to Sayers in Yarm this week for some new boots and can recomend them wholeheartedly.

Dave is the owner and he spent close to two hours with me working through various pairs to find the right fit. Best to try and go midweek to ensure he has the nescessary time to devote to you.
We'll be fine!

The indoor ski-slope better get built in Sunderland. We're moving nearer there partly so we can easily use the sports facilities round the olympic pool including easy skiing!

Anyway, when I was thinking of buying a snowboard this is was the recommendation of one of my friends who has 6 or 7 sets of skis/snowbaords. As mentioned on the website you can try out the gear whilst skiing. Not sure if this would be better for trying them than wearing them in the house for several hours..... It refers to skis so if you were interested I would double check with them that you can also try the boots before you went, but I was told that you can.

Here's the link anyway!

Well I did it! I decided to go to Nevisport first and didnt bother going anywhere else. For a Saturday the shop was dead and I had the attention of 2 sales assistants. They couldnt have been more helpful! I was so pleased with my purchase, as the other assistant (actually she may have been the superivsor) was watching on she was suggesting different things for my burning feet and eventually took over the sale (lucky for me) The first boot I looked at was the Nordica Olympia Sport 10. it fit ok but it was kind of tight around my "athletic calves" lol (that is the technical term they used lol) then she suggested the Head Dream 8.5 as they would be a better fit around said calves. As soon as I put them on they felt much better. They werent nipping my calves at all. The only problem I can forsee is my burning feet. I had them on for about 10 mins in the shop and they didnt burn at all. She said I should wear them in the house for about 20 mins at time to see if it brings on the burn. If I am not happy with them they will give me a refund. THey said they would hold off on the moulding of the boot until they know I am definitly keeping them.

Now all I need to do is wear them round the house and wait for the burn.

Hi Karen,
Well done for finding some boots that fit, and best of luck that the foot burning problem is cured :D

I don't know what hire shops charge for fixing boot problems though, I've never owned my own boots.

Hi,
A friend of mine has 'difficult' feet and bought some boots in the UK.

He was in so much pain while in France one year he took them to a ski shop. They sorted him out and charged him 20 euros. He said was a great use of the money as they've been no problem since.
