The childens schools are shut. The great thing about being a skier is that they are fully covered and protected in suitable snow gear. I cringe when I see the kids in soggy jeans and no gloves! Off now to unpack our suitcase and put on our sallos etc. for a play in MK snow.

It snowed yesterday morning, about an inch settled here in South Lincs, but much of it had gone last night.
However, it started snowing again at 8am and its now getting a lot heavier. The forecast here is for 15cm today.
I am more concerned about what its going to be like getting to Gatwick on Saturday morning as they seem to have a lot more there with more to come!

Currently have 11cm settled here south of Oxford, and it's still snowing plenty. I hope Snowb4andit has been able to get her flight from Gatwick!

My fingers are still crossed Bandit, my flight is in the morning at 6.35am. Apparently Gatwick is intending to re-open at 11am today. :?

Can't they re-schedule and fly from Stansted or somewhere, like they do when the flight gets diverted? Or are all the planes stuck on the tarmac at Gatwick?

Err....no. Planes may be at other places being lined up to do a Gatwick shift in the days ahead, but all of whats happening now causes a backlog in the days to come.AllyG wrote:snowb4ndit wrote:

You cant just send planes to STN and expect people to find out its been moved, although I'd jump at that happening to my flight on Saturday.
I contacted my tour op this morning and asked whats likely to happen, and they just said go to LGW as normal and find out once you are there.
One would have thought, as you suggested, that in 3 days time, they would be able to reschedule to another airport, but I understand its all about air corridors, slots, air traffic control etc, and causes more hassle for the airline and airport authority. Shame.
