But anyway, yeah - So long as the allowed ski bagage weight is within the limits, they won't mind what's inside the bag.

I have had my ski bag contents queried by BA check in at GVA. I lied and got away with it. Remember that most check in staff don't work for the airline and are often incentivised to increase revenue.
