Yes, looks like it's a late winter. Late winters are usually good winters, so good chance the best of this season is still ahead of us. And I've already had some amazing powder days.

Yikes - some sites forecasting 13 degrees and warm all next week (w/c 9th March) in Les Gets.

Yes, I saw freezing level rising quite high from Sunday on. Not the best news. Hopefully won't last too long. Warm weather for any extended period of time can put an end to this season before Easter...

Friend of mine is currently in Valloire. He said its been raining a lot and the whole area was closed yesterday - not sure if that was avalanche risk or wind. But its very warm western alps particularly France.

Probably both - big snow accumulations on upper mountain, lot of this snow was windblown. Winds were very high too. Verbier stayed opened, but not many skiable slopes and running lifts. Temps are supposed to drop this week but back to high by Sunday.

All change today - big snow fall and much much colder in Valloire today: -7c at midday and belting down. How it all changes in a short space of time.

I'll be in Solden next week, they've got tons of powder up the top but limited coverage at village level, so obviously I will be staying above mid station level. Forecast was snow all this week, which has pretty much happened, but suddenly its getting warm at the weekend and now sun sun sun all next week Not sure if I should be happy about that as i like cold temps and fresh snow to ski in, whereas Mrs H will be donning the shades and suncream with a smile no doubt.

Enjoy, anyone who is away or going away now.
