Rose, where do you go in Finland? I have cause to be in Finland a lot over the next few months, mainly Helsinki and Tampere. Whats the skinny on finding a few days riding from either?

MMMMmmmmm dubious fashion :D

Mind you I think the fir would have looked better on the original owner ,but you cannot improve on what nature has inented sometimes.....

....but it has been very cold over the northern parts of europe from what I have read lately so cannot blame them, the Anne Summers ski collection in the 2nd pic has potential though

We go to Ruka, just below the arctic circle. I know you can get internal flights from Helsinki to Kuussamo airport, Ruka is the closest about 20mins away. Or internal flight from Helsinki to Kittila and then you have Levi and Yllas, again about 20 mins transfer.
But there are resorts about 70kms from Helsinki, not been there but there are quite a few.

I am gonna be there at weekends mainly, it's not work )but was thinking of going for a full week and doing Monday to Friday somewhere, 4 days max. Is there enough in Ruka to keep me occupied?

Its very quiet but suits us down to the ground. We are not the type to be first lift up last lift down we do other activities as well. We stay in a log cabin but for one would be very expensive its bad enough for two but as our flight was delayed and we had an extra day they put us up in the Rukahovi hotel, right next to the slopes this would be ideal for you.
We had a couple of days skiing, couple of days boarding, several x country treks. We did snowmobile safari's, went to a reindeer farm and got my reindeer licence, did long husky sleigh safari. Went one night searching for northern lights, snowmobile towed us up the slopes, over the top, down the other side and out into the wilderness where there was a campfire and shelter, went snow shoeing deep in the forest, then towed us back to the top of the slopes and we boarded back down at about 10.30pm, no northern lights but was brilliant fun. Great restraunts, and several bars that close 4am.
Its not every-ones cup of tea, there are no mountains just fells, but its different.
