Woah, that was very close. I live on the fourth and top floor in this building. In communal areas they have lights on timers so that you switch it on and then it stays on for maybe 45 seconds, allowing even people at the top enough time to negotiate the stairs. Well 3 days from a weeks snow and some extreme relaxing I am in high spirits and bound out to put the bins out. Not processing the fact the lights were on already I started taking the four flights 3 steps at a time. On the last flight and just straightening the legs to jump the entire flight the lights click off. I'm in mid air not able to see my landing, the back of my trainers rub the top of the riser on the bottom step and I land it :!: An inch less distance and I would have broken my ankles

Thank God for that, how many lives did you just use up? Years ago when I moved in with my Husband he lived on the 4th floor and I always found it difficult with washing, rubbish etc having always lived in a house. So I got into the habit of every norning on my way out to work take a bag of rubbish down out to the communal bins. Except one morning I forgot to put it in the bin........walked nearly a mile to work carrying a bag of rubbish.
I'm a laydee

Tino,
Next time, jump torch ready in hand, just in case the lights go out
I hate those economy lights - especially when they have them in the toilet ...
