Ski show get together 21-25 October 2009

I must have been at the bar when that one was taken....


I went back to the show yesterday (Sunday) as I had a spare ticket, and blagged Mrs H in for £4. It was absolutely packed, uncomfortably so. People walking into you, no room to look at anything, horrible.

I did manage to fill in the rest of the competitions to win a free holiday that I missed before, and Mrs H got a nice Oakly fleece. Sadly the Neo's have been sold, and I am halfway through my ebay auction to get rid of my own skis already.... :cry:

Oakley's stand was the place for bargains. Everything was reduced between 30 and 50%, including some very nice goggles and glasses.
The only other place with really good deals was, surprisingly, the Trespass stand. Everything was 50% off marked prices. For example, a standard 1/4 zip fleece was £14.95, so available at £7.50.
Some of the new range of jcakets they have for this season are a massive improvement on previous stuff. There was a nice sky/turquoise/white ladies jacket for £80 which would have been £40, ideal for first timers or someone looking for a 2nd jacket cheap.
They also had a really nice softshell for £75 (£37.50) with a hood, thats a really good deal.

S&R and EB were offering NOTHING at all as a discount off anything, although S&R had a sale rail. All I could see were odd sized Kjus jackets at £400 with 30% off - good if it was your size and you had that kind of money to spend on a jacket I guess.

I ended up going to TK Maxx at Hammersmith and getting 4 pairs of Merino Wool ski socks for £17.

As for the show itself, overall its great just to get in the ski mood, but I did find it a little tired as previously mentioned, maybe its because I have been 3 years in a row now. However, its something I look forward to on the calendar as it makes me realise how close to going away we are getting, and its always nice to meet the people actually from the resorts you are either going to or have thought about visiting.

Formigal is now on my radar, big time.

Just been going through the brochures and leaflets I picked up a The Show on the Friday.

Did anybody come across the Raxski stand - skis chopped off behind the bindings and replaced by 3 vertical fins for turning and stopping !!

They have to be seen to be believed - see raxski.com

MMmm I saw their stand whilst on a coffee break but never went to have a look, I'll have a closer look at their web site
